La Jolla, Calif. – Cal State Northridge fell to Long Beach State, 10-8, in double overtime on Sunday morning during second day action at the UCSD Invitational.
A Lindsy Nelson goal with 3:29 to play gave the Matadors an 8-7 lead. But the 49ers tied the game with 2:55 left on the clock and eventually sent the game into overtime at 8-8.
In collegiate water polo, two five-minute overtimes are played. Long Beach State scored a goal in each overtime while CSUN was held scoreless.
Jenny Jamison and Nelson scored two goals apiece to lead the Matadors in scoring.
Cal State Northridge will complete play today at the UCSD Invitational with a 1:50 pm game against either UC Santa Barbara or UC San Diego at the Triton Pool.
