La Jolla, Calif. – The University of Maryland, ranked 17th in the nation, raced to a 6-1 halftime lead and 19th-ranked Cal State Northridge could never recover.
Eventually, the Matadors fell to the Terrapins, 11-4, during Sunday morning action at the UC San Diego Invitational.
Cal State Northridge will conclude tournament action with a 1:50 p.m. game against #16 UC Santa Barbara. The Gauchos fell to ninth-ranked Indiana, 7-5, on Sunday morning.
Maryland scored the game's first three goals in the first four minutes of the game before the Matadors could put a goal on the scoreboard, thanks to Jenny Jamison at the 3:29 mark.
Maryland outscored the Matadors, 3-0, in the second period to take a 6-1 halftime lead.
Melissa Doll, Alex Hoetker and Lindsy Nelson were the other goal scorers besides Jamison for Cal State Northridge.
Maryland raised its season record to 5-2. Cal State Northridge fell to 3-7.
