Matadors Come Up Short In Four Games Against Pacific
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Sophomore Angela Hupp knocked down a team-high 12 kllls and freshman Brittany Williams added 10 but Cal State Northridge came up short to the visiting Pacific Tigers 30-28, 24-30, 30-19, 31-29 on Friday at The Matadome.
With the win, the Tigers improve to 15-8 overall and 8-5 in the Big West. The loss drops the Matadors to 10-17 overall and 6-8 in conference play.
In the loss, Hupp notched her team-high ninth double-double by adding 20 assists to her 12 kills. She also came up one dig short of her fifth double-double of the season and was in on five blocks. Williams (.207) added 10 kills and fellow freshman Alex Johnson chipped in nine (.121). Matador setter Kayla Wright served a career-high four aces and Amy Hultner had a team-high 16 digs.
For Pacific, Svenja Engelhardt knocked down a match-high 21 kills (.216) to lead four Tiger hitters in double figures. Kara Uhl added 17 (.222), Johanna Hilbers had 15 (.520) and Meagan MimMack chipped in 13 (.241).
The Tigers out-hit the Matadors .173 (69-38-179) to .117 (46-27-162) but Northridge posted a sizable 17.0 to 10.0 advantage in team blocks.
Cal State Northridge wraps up the home portion of the Big West schedule on Saturday as the Matadors host UC Davis at 7 p.m. in The Matadome.
