Cal State Northridge women's volleyball coach Jeff Stork has been selected to be an assistant coach for the 2010 U.S. Boys' Youth National Team that will represent the United States at the NORCECA Under-19 Continental Championship on April 6-11 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Stork, who completed his eighth season on the Matador bench in the fall, is 94-136 in his Northridge career and 116-142 overall which includes one season as the men's head coach at Pepperdine.
U.S. Men's National Team assistant coach Gary Sato will be the head coach of the squad and former Cal State Northridge women's head coach Walt Ker will also assist. Ker was 401-144 in 14 seasons (1979-92) at the helm of the Matador women's program.
Sato first served as an assistant coach for the U.S. Men's Team from 1984-88, including the team that won the 1988 Olympic gold medal in Seoul. Stork was the starting setter for that team and would also play for the United States in 1992 and 1996.
"I think its an honor and privilege to coach a team that represents the United States," said Stork. "This is a qualifying tournament for the first-ever junior world olympics and it will be a great honor to coach a team from the United States."
