SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Freshman Britney Graff had 11 kills and senior Angela Hupp concluded her Matador career with 22 assists and five digs but Cal State Northridge dropped its season finale 25-15, 25-21, 25-18 at UC Santa Barbara on Saturday at The Thunderdome.
The Matadors conclude the 2009 season with an overall record of 8-22 and the Matadors finished 4-12 in the Big West. The Gauchos wound up second in the Big West at 11-5 and are now 21-7 overall.
Northridge struggled on offense for the second straight night as the Matadors hit .064 as a team, committing 22 hitting errors in 94 swings with 28 kills. Graff was the lone Northridge hitter to reach double figures as she put down 11 to wrap up her freshman campaign with 287 kills. Junior Lynda Morales added six kills (.182) and senior Tela Burnett chipped in five kills (-.067) and five blocks.
Fellow senior Angela Hupp concluded an impressive Matador career with 22 assists, four digs and four total blocks. She wound up in the Northridge career top-10 in six different categories.
For UCSB, Rebecca Saraceno, playing for the first time since injuring her knee on Nov. 7 at Cal Poly, notched a team-leading 10 kills (.455), had a team-best eight digs and added a service ace and two block assists. Lily Lopez added seven kills (.545) and Stacey Schmidt added six (.250) as the Gauchos hit .244 as a team.
