Northridge Runs Big West Win Streak to Two With 3-1 Win at Cal State Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Northridge ran its Big West win streak to two matches and won its first conference road match in the process as the Matadors defeated Cal State Fullerton 25-23, 25-23, 18-25, 25-18 Friday at Titan Gym.

Senior Angela Hupp's 14 kills (.182) and junior Brittany Williams' 13 (.114) paced the Matadors (6-13, 2-4) who won their second straight overall after snapping a five-match skid. Freshman Britney Graff added nine kills (.409) and 17 digs while junior Lynda Morales chipped in eight kills (.250) and a pair of blocks.

Matador libero Monica McFarland posted a career-high 27 digs as Northridge out-dug the Titans 74-70 and had 11.0 team blocks behind Tela Burnett's team-high six assists.

The Matadors hit .162 and .178 as the first two sets were close. Northridge then slipped to a .070 clip in dropping set three but responded to hit an impressive .400 in the fourth set as the Matadors wrapped up the match with a 25-18 win.

For Cal State Fullerton, Torrie Brown knocked down a match-high 21 kills (.457) but Big West kills leader Erin Saddler was held to nine kills and a -.050 hitting clip.

Cal State Northridge wraps up its two-match road trip on Saturday as the Matadors look to extend its winning streak at No. 25 Long Beach State. First serve at the Walter Pyramid is set for 7 p.m.
