Val Kepler was one of two Matador players, along with Kayla Wright, to appear in all 31 matches and 117 games ... earned starts in all 31 matches in the middle ... was named honorable mention All-Big West, the first time she has earned all-conference honors ... finished third on the team in kills with 269 and was fourth in kills per game at 2.30 ... led Northridge in hitting at .287 and was the team's second leading blocker with 149 total blocks ... wound up ranked fifth in the Big West in blocking at 1.27 per game and ranked eighth in hitting percentage (.287) ... pounded a career-high 17 kills in a career-high 32 swings at UC Davis (Oct. 12) ... posted a career-best six digs in the Matadors' 3-2 win over Manhattan (Sept. 7) ... also matched her career-high in assists (2), aces (3) and blocks (11) during the season ... earned All-Tournament accolades at the University of San Diego Tournament (Sept. 14-15) ... was named to the Big West Academic All-Conference team for the second consecutive year.
Kepler appeared in all 28 matches and 100 matches as a sophomore ... finished fifth on the team with 178 kills, averaging 1.78 kills per game ... hit .211 for the season which was second among Matador hitters ... also posted 119 total blocks (11 solo) which was second behind Darla Donaldson's 122 ... ranked sixth in the Big West in blocks per game (1.19) ... hit a Northridge season-high .688 with a season-high 12 kills and just one error in 16 swings at Pacific (Sept. 30) ... recorded a career-high 11 total blocks (one solo) to go with 10 kills in the Matadors' 3-1 win at UC Riverside (Oct. 14) ... reached double figures in kills five times during the season ... was one of seven Matadors named to the Big West All-Academic Team.
Appeared in 27 matches and 95 games as a freshman ... finished fourth on the team with 164 kills (1.73 kpg) and hit .220 which was second on the Matadors ... led the team in blocks with 93 and a 0.98 blocks per game average ... also served 11 aces and recorded 34 digs ... finished fifth in conference matches with a 1.19 blocks per game average ... hit a Northridge season-high .545 with a season-high 13 kills in the Matadors' five-game win over UNLV (Aug. 27) ... posted a team season-high nine blocks (all assisted) in a 3-1 win over Cal Poly (Sept. 17) ... knocked down double-figures in kills four times, including 12 kills (.370) against No. 10 UCLA (Sept. 8) ... also tallied 10 kills at UC Riverside (Sept. 23) and at home against Long Beach State (Oct. 7).
Kepler was a four-year letterwinner at Royal High School in Simi Valley, Calif. ... earned First Team All-Marmonte League honors as a senior and was the varsity team MVP ... was also elected team captain as a senior in 2004 ... earned Second Team all-league honors as well as the Coaches Award in 2003 ...earned Most Improved Player recognition as a sophomore in 2002 ... graduated in 2005 with a 4.0 grade point average.
