Sherrina Lofton Sets School Indoor Record in Pentathlon at Jackson's Open

NAMPA, Idaho - Senior Sherrina Lofton scored a Cal State Northridge indoor record 3,844 points to finish second in the pentathlon Saturday at the Jackson's Open in Napma, Idaho.

In a rare December indoor meet, Lofton eclipsed LaShana Verdon's school record of 3,828 points set at the UW Invitational in Seattle, Wash. in 2007.

Lofton won the 60 meter hurdles in 8.83 to earn 946 points and also claimed the 800 meters in 2:24.65 to pick up 761 points. She was second in the shot put with a best of 36-9.75 (11.22) as well as the high jump with a height of 5-6 (1.68). Lofton then took third in the long jump with a best of 18-0.25 (5.49).

Fellow senior Desirae Gonder also competed but did not finish. Gonder finished sixth in the 60 meter hurdles in 9.33, third in the high jump (5-5) and eighth in the shot put (29-8.25). She did not compete in the long jump or high jump.
