NORTHRIDGE - 2011
Desirae Gonder concluded her Matador career at the
NCAA Preliminary Round in the high jump, long jump and 4x400
relay ... wound up 24th in the high jump (5-5) and 42nd in the long
jump (18-1) ... the 4x400 relay team went on to finish 18th in a
time of 3:42.59 ... had another spectacular Big West Championship
meet that saw her win the high jump, finish second in the long
jump, third in the heptathlon and eighth in the 100 meter hurdles
... also was part of the conference champion 4x400 relay team as
well as the runner-up 4x100 relay ... won the Big West high
jump with a top clearance of 5-10 (1.78) and then jumped a
career-best 19-7.50 (5.98) to tie with teammate Sherrina
Lofton for second ... scored 5,109 points in the Big West
heptathlon after posting a season-best 5,294 to finish seventh at
the prestigious Texas Relays ... finished third in the pentathlon
at the MPSF Indoor Championships after scoring a career-best 3,802
points which ranks third all-time at Cal State Northridge ...
posted season-bests in the high jump (5-9.25), long jump (18-3) and
800 meters (2:22.66).
2010
Gonder made her second appearance at the NCAA Championships and
first in the heptathlon ... went on the finish 17th with 5,170
points ... earned her third trip to the NCAA West Region
Championships as a member of Northridge's 4x100 and 4x400 relays
... the 4x400 relay ran 3:37.29 to grab the 12th and final
qualifying spot for the NCAA Championships ... the 4x100 relay ran
45.66 to place 21st in the prelims ... was named Big West Women's
Field Athlete of the Year after scoring 34 points by herself as
Matador women won their fifth straight Big West title ... finished
second in the heptathlon with a lifetime-best 5,512 points, put up
a third place finish in the high jump with a season-best effort of
5-10.75 (1.80) and was also third in the long jump at 19-05.25
(5.92). In addition to her performance in the field events, she
also ran the 200 meters, 100 meter hurdles and was part of the
conference champion 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams ... ran new
personal-best of 14.07 in the 100 hurdles at the conference
championships ... ran season-bests of 24.32 in the 200 and 2:17.79
in the 800 during the heptathlon ... did not compete during the
indoor season.
2009
Finished fourth in the high jump at the MPSF Indoor Championships
after clearing a height of 5-8.50 (1.74) ... jumped an indoor
season-best 5-10.50 (1.79) to finish tied for second at the Husky
Classic in Seattle, Wash. (Feb. 14) ... redshirted the 2009 outdoor
season for the Matadors.
2008
Became the first Northridge woman to earn All-America honors since
Carol Stevenson in 2004 ... was also named USTFCCCA All-West Region
... finished fourth in the high jump at the NCAA Outdoor
Championships in Des Moines, Iowa after jumping 6-0 (1.83) ... went
on to finish 17th at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore. after
jumping 5-10.50 (1.79) ... was selected to compete for the U.S. at
the 2008 NACAC Under 23 Track & Field Championships in Toluca,
Mexico but did not compete ... placed fourth at the NCAA West
Regional in Northridge after clearing 5-9.25 (1.76) ... battled
with Cal Poly's Sharon Day and wound up finishing second in the Big
West after jumping a career-best 6-0.50 (1.84) to Day's 6-4.75
(1.95) ... also posted a Northridge team-best 5,203 points to
finish second in the Big West heptathlon ... also ran the third leg
of the Matadors 4x400 relay team that finished fourth in a
season-best time of 3:37.78 ... qualified for the NCAA Indoor
Championships in the high jump where she finished 14th with a
height of 5-8.75 (1.75) ... placed fourth at the MPSF Indoor
Championships with a leap of 5-10 (1.78) ... posted an indoor
lifetime-best of 5-11.50 (1.82) to finish second at the UW
Invitational in Seattle, Wash.
2007
Had an impressive freshman season that saw her qualify for the
high jump at the NCAA West Regional ... finished eighth with a
career-best height of 5-9.25 which is a Cal State Northridge
freshman record and ranks fifth on the career list ... placed third
at the Big West Championships with a height of 5-8.75 which helped
the Matadors to their second consecutive women's title ... finished
fourth in the Big West heptathlon with 4,860 points, the
second-best freshman total in Northridge history ... finished
second in the high jump at the WAC Indoor Championships with a
height of 5-8.25 ... her mark is the second-best high jump in the
Northridge indoor record books ... also finished eighth in the long
jump at the WAC Championships with a season-best 19-0.
STOCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL
Competed in track, basketball and volleyball at Stockdale High
School in Bakersfield, Calif. ... was a four-time All-Area
selection in track as jumper from 2003 through 2006 ... also earned
All-SW Yosemite League accolades all four years ... the Mustangs
won a SW Yosemite League championship in track & field ... was
an outside hitter for the Mustangs volleyball team and a guard for
the basketball team ... graduated in 2006 with a 3.0 grade point
average.
