Matador Tennis Sweeps Cal State Los Angeles, 7-0

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge women's tennis team (4-1) rebounded from a loss to Cal Poly with a 7-0 sweep over Cal State LA Friday afternoon at the Matador Tennis Complex. The Matadors did not lose a set on the day to the Golden Eagles, dropping no more than four games in a match.

In doubles action, Brooke Doane and Anna Yang improved to 4-1 on the season with an 8-3 victory over Dora Kiss and Lind Majzlikova at the top draw. In the No. 2 match, Nina Jaworowski and Whitney Paluch defeated Adriana Espsinosa and Jillian Sangria, 8-3.

Finally Ryma Korab and Zarina Pisnoy made their official Northridge debuts, handing Lana Lamesic and Marine Prevost an 8-4 decision at the No. 3 draw.

In singles action, Doane won at the No. 1 draw to move her record to 4-1 with a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Kiss. In the second draw, Jaworowski topped Majzlikova, 6-3 and 6-0, to also move to 4-1. At the No. 3 match, Paluch defeated Sangria, 6-4 and 6-2.

In the bottom half of the match, Yang topped Lamesic 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 4 match. Maria Pistalu won her first match at the No. 5 seed, defeating Espinosa, 6-0 and 6-0.

Finally, Pisnoy made her Northridge debut in singles action, defeating Prevost, 6-3 and 6-0.

The Matadors return to action next Saturday, Mar. 6, when they travel to Orange County to face UC Irvine. First serve is slated for 11 a.m.
