Northridge Opens Matador Invitational with Solid Performances

The Cal State Northridge women's tennis team performed well at the opening day of the Matador Invitational. Freshman Evegeniya Vertesheva defeated Pepperdine's Jillian Braverman and BYU's Kristina Doerr in the A bracket of singles competition, while in doubles action the Matadors picked up several impressive victories. Matadors Post Impressive Victories at ITA West Regionals

Senior Victoria Brymer and freshman Evgeniya Vetesheva each recorded victories at the ITA West Regionals for the Cal State Northridge women's tennis team. Brymer took a win over UCLA's Brittnay Rosen and Vetesheva registered a pair of victories in the singles consolation bracket. (MORE)
Matador Doubles Shine at Cal State Fullerton Intercollegiate

The Cal State Norhtridge women's tennis team kept it stellar doubles play from the 2008 spring season into the fall as a pair of Matador tandems reached the Cal State Fullerton Intercollegiate finals in both the "A" and "B" flights. Despite losing in the "A" finals, the team of Brooke Doane and newcomer Evgeniya Vertesheya defeated UCLA's Stephanie Wetmore and Alexandria Walters in the semifinals, 8-3, (MORE)
Northridge Women's Tennis Unveils 2008-09 Schedule

The Cal State Northridge women's tennis team released its 2008-09 schedule, head coach Gary Victor announced Wednesday. In addition to meetings with five nationally ranked squads in 2008, including defending NCAA champion UCLA, the Matadors will host 16 matches at the Matador Tennis Complex. (MORE)

2008 Women's Tennis Year in Review

With four selections to the All-Big West Team and an appearance in the Big West Championship semifinals, the Cal State Northridge women's tennis team enjoyed a successful 2008 campaign marked by torrent doubles play and flourishing debuts from several newcomers. Overall, the Matadors finished the season 14-8 and 7-3 against Big West opponents under head coach Gary Victor. (MORE)
