Matador Tennis Defeats Wellesley College 7-0

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. ---

The Cal State Northridge women's tennis team (9-6) defeated Wellesley College 7-0 Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference match at Matador Tennis Complex. The Matadors won their third-straight match by not dropping a set to the Blue.

Northridge swept through the nine matches without dropping a set Wednesday. Mari Taslagyan made her CSUN debut with a win in No. 6 singles in straight sets. Corinne Schnyder won her first singles match of the season with a straight-set victory at No. 5 singles.

In doubles play, freshmen Mickey Hsu and Kristen Poei improved to 12-1 (.923) with an 8-2 victory in No. 2 doubles. Vivian Lin and Criss Rodriguez won in the top doubles draw while Lorraine Cheung and Scout Shutter won at No. 3 doubles without losing a game.

Jessica Warren picked up an impressive singles win in the fourth draw while Shutter captured her highest-seeded victory of the season with a win at No. 3. Lin also picked up a victory in the top singles match.

The Matadors hit the road for their next match, an important Big West Conference contest at Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, Mar. 29. First serve is slated for noon.
