Northridge Falls 6-1 to Long Beach State

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- The Cal State Northridge women's tennis team (3-3, 1-1 Big West) lost 6-1 to Long Beach State Saturday afternoon in a Big West Conference matchm at Matador Tennis Complex. Senior Nigora Sirojiddinova won the Matadors' only point on the day, captuing her No. 2 singles draw in straight sets.

Having swept Gonzaga in its last outing, Northridge hoped that momentum would carry over to a Long Beach State team that is among the perennial favorites in the Big West Conference.

However, LBSU set the early tone by sweeping the three doubles matches. Sirojiddinova and Anna Yang got the closes for CSUN, falling 8-7 in a tiebreaker after the other two matches finished.

In singles, Sirojiddinova cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Rachel Manasse in the second draw. The win evened her season record to 3-3.

Two Matadors fell in a decisive third set. Maria Pistalu won the second set but ultimately lost in three in the fourth draw. Sabrina Man-Son-Hing suffered the same fate in her No. 3 draw.

CSUN will look to get back to its winning ways with another league match, a home affair with UC Riverside on Saturday, Feb. 25.
