CSUN Still Seeking First Win; Matadors Fall at No. 5 Long Beach State

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge sand volleyball team is still seeking its first win of its inaugural season as the Matadors (0-6) dropped four of five matches Thursday at fifth-ranked Long Beach State (2-3).

Head coach Jeff Stork switched his teams up a bit on Thursday as the No. 4 pair of Mahina Haina and Marissa Boyd came away with CSUN's lone victory, 21-18, 13-21, 15-12 over Jenelle Hudson and Alex Reid.

Sydney Gedryn and Kelcie Randazzo lost in the No. 1 match to Delainey Aigner-Swesey and Bojana Todorovic 21-12, 21-13. In the No. 2 match, Natalie Allen and Casey Hinger fell in a tight 21-17, 21-18 decision to Tyler Jackson and Janisa Johnson. Hinger had been victorious in two of her last three matches teammed up with Boyd.

In the No. 3 match, CSUN's Steffi Miller and Sam Kaul lost to Chelsea Cabrajac and Bre Mackie, 21-5, 21-13 and Alia Casino and Stephanie Serna dropped a 21-7, 22-20 decision to Ciana Wagner and Morea Wagner.

CSUN wraps up its inaugural season next week as the Matadors travel to Playa del Rey to take on Loyola Marymount on Wednesday (Mar. 26) before taking on USC and Oregon at USC's Merle Norman Stadium on Thursday (Mar. 27). The CSUN-USC match will air live on Pac-12 Networks.
