NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -
The Cal State Northridge baseball and softball programs will team up Sunday for a canned food drive to benefit the Children’s Hunger Fund. A canned or non-perishable food donation will get patrons free admission to both the Matadors’ Softball game against Pacific at noon and the Matador’s baseball game against UC Santa Barbara starting at 1 p.m.
The Children’s Hunger Fund is a non-profit organization that works to provide children with food in some of the most needy regions of the world. The Fund’s motto is: “Where need, love and action meet, compassion happens.”
“As we serve families in the San Fernando Valley, we value the relationships that are built,” said Children’s Hunger Fund Founder and President Dave Phillips. “And it is a relationship like this, between Children’s Hunger Fund and Cal State Northridge, that can bring lasting hope to the needy in our community.”
The Matadors have teamed with Children’s Hunger Fund in the past, organizing similar drives around Matador home men’s and basketball games. CSUN Athletics encourages all patrons to bring a minimum donation of three cans per person, though any donation will be gladly welcome.
