May 5, 2013 Matadors Mash Four Home Runs in 12-3 Victory on Senior Day The Cal State Northridge softball team (24-29, 10-11 Big West) defeated UC Riverside 12-3 in five innings Sunday in the series finale at Matador Diamond. Sophomore Adrienne Martinez hit two home runs, tying the school record, and drove in six RBIs, ony shy of the school mark, as the Matadors posted an impressive win on senior day.
May 4, 2013 Big Innings Lead CSUN to Doubleheader Sweep over UC Riverside The Cal State Northridge softball team (23-29, 9-11 Big West) defeated UC Riverside 5-1 and 8-5 Saturday afternoon in a Big West Conference doubleheader at Matador Diamond. Seniors Shelly Tait and Mia Pagano picked up wins in the circle and big innings at the plate sent the Matadors to the two wins over the Highlanders.
May 2, 2013 CSUN Softball Senior Weekend Centers around Visit from UCR The Cal State Northridge softball team (21-29, 7-11 Big West) play its final three home games of the 2013 season this weekend when UC Riverside arrives for a Big West Conference series. The Matadors and Highlanders will play a doubleheader on Saturday, May 4 and then a single contest on Sunday, May 5.
April 28, 2013 Matadors Fall Short in 6-5 Loss to UC Santa Barbara The Cal State Northridge softball team (21-29, 7-11 Big West) lost 6-5 to UC Santa Barbara Sunday afternoon in the finale of a Big West Conference series at Campus Diamond. The Matadors stormed back from a 5-0 deficit with a five-run fifth inning, but a Gaucho solo blast proved to be the decisive measure as they took the series.
April 27, 2013 Matadors Rebound to Split Saturday Doubleheader with Gauchos The Cal State Northridge softball team (21-28, 7-10 Big West) lost 8-0 in five innings and won 3-0 in a Big West Conference doubleheader with UC Santa Barbara Saturday at Campus Diamond. After suffering a tough loss game one, senior Alexa Limon and Jennifer Tyler teamed up to give the Matadors seven shutout innings in the game two victory.
April 25, 2013 CSUN Softball Hits the Road for Series at UC Santa Barbara The Cal State Northridge softball team (20-27, 6-9 Big West) return to action this weekend with a three-game Big West Conference series against UC Santa Barbara at Campus Diamond. Tiffini Lucero and Crystal Maas each had two hits, but the Matadors could not rally for the third time in as many games against the Tigers.
April 20, 2013 Matadors Rally to Post Saturday Sweep over Pacific The Cal State Northridge softball team (20-26, 6-8 Big West) defeated Pacific 3-1 and 5-4 (8 innings) Saturday afternoon in a Big West Conference doubleheader at Matador Diamond. In game one, Shelly Tait did not allow an earned run in a complete game and Tanna Bindi had a key two-run triple. In game two, the Matadors rallied from a 3-0 deficit to post a 5-4 extra-inning victory to clinch the series with the Tigers.
April 17, 2013 Matadors Split with Long Beach State in Televised Doubleheader The Cal State Northridge softball team (18-26, 4-8 Big West) defeated Long Beach State 4-2 in eight innings and then fell 2-0 in the second game in a Big West Conference doubleheader at 49ers Sports Complex. In front of a nationally televised crowd on ESPNU, Tanna Bindi collected a two-run, two-out single in the top of the eighth to give the Matadors the win in game one.
April 15, 2013 CSUN Faces LBSU on ESPNU, then Plays Host to Pacific The Cal State Northridge softball team (17-25, 3-7 Big West Conference) has a five-game week ahead of itself as the Matadors tangle with Long Beach State and Pacific. On Wednesday, April 17, Northridge will travel to Long Beach to face the 49ers in a doubleheader that will be broadcast live on ESPNU beginning at 1 p.m. Then on Saturday, April 20, the Matadors welcome Pacific to Matador Diamond for the two teams’ final Big West Conference series against each other. CSUN and the Tigers will play a doubleheader on April 20 and a single game on April 21 with both days starting at noon. Freshman Maylynn Mitchell had an RBI single and sophomore Crystal Maas tossed five innings of solid relief, but a solo home run in the top of the second provided the Mustangs with the decisive run.
April 13, 2013 Randazzo's Walk-Off Blast Sends CSUN to Pair of Wins over Cal Poly The Cal State Northridge softball team (17-24, 3-6 Big West) defeated Cal Poly 7-0 and 3-2 Saturday afternoon in a Big West Conference doubleheader at Matador Diamond. Sophomore Brianna Elder spun a four-hit shutout in the first contest and Korinne Randazzo delivered a two-run, two-out home run in the bottom of the seventh to propel the Matadors to a 3-2 victory in game two.
April 10, 2013 Matadors Edged 1-0 at Long Beach State The Cal State Northridge softball team (15-24, 1-6 Big West) lost 1-0 to Long Beach State Wednesday in a Big West Conference game at the 49ers Softball Complex. Crystal Maas and Tanna Bindi each had two hits for the Matadors, but an unearned run scored in the bottom of the third proved to be decisive.
April 9, 2013 CSUN Softball Travels to Long Beach State, Hosts Cal Poly The Cal State Northridge softball team (15-23, 1-5 Big West Conference) has a busy week ahead as the Matadors travel for a single game against Long Beach State on Wednesday followed by a three-game series with Cal Poly at Matador Diamond over the weekend. The Matadors and 49ers will play a single game at 49ers Softball Complex at 3 p.m. this Wednesday followed by a doubleheader on April 17 in Long Beach that will air on ESPNU starting at 1 p.m. After the first game with the 49ers, the Matadors will host the Cal Poly Mustangs in a three-game series at Matador Diamond. The two teams will meet in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 13 with first pitch at noon. The following day, the teams will square off in a single game also at noon.
April 7, 2013 Matador Softball Closes Series with 8-1 Victory over UC Davis The Cal State Northridge softball team (15-23, 1-5 Big West) defeated UC Davis 8-1 Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game Big West Conference series at LaRue Field. Maylynn Mitchell went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and Brianna Elder picked up her first win of the season in the circle as the Matadors snapped a six-game skid overall and seven-game streak against the Aggies.
April 6, 2013 Northridge Softball Falls Twice to UC Davis The Cal State Northridge softball team (14-23, 0-5 Big West) lost 5-2 and 5-0 to UC Davis Saturday afternoon in a Big West Conference doubleheader at LaRue Field. Senior Tiffini Lucero had her first two doubles of the season and junior Tanna Bindi blasted her second home run of the season, but the Matador offense could not put together enough runs and lost their sixth and seventh straight to the host Aggies.

A six-run fourth for Hawai'i broke open as the Rainbow Wahine posted the series sweep.
March 23, 2013 CSUN Softball Edged by No. 20 Hawai'i in Doubleheader The Cal State Northridge softball team (14-20, 0-2 Big West) lost 5-4 and 5-3 to No. 20 Hawai'i Saturday afternoon in both teams' opening series of the 2013 Big West Conference season. In game one, Sydney House cranked a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to nearly ignite a furious CSUN comeback while game two saw the Matadors fall just short in their upset bid.

March 16, 2013 Northridge Softball Downs Seattle to Earn Saturday Split The Cal State Northridge softball team (12-18) lost 4-0 to LMU and defeated Seattle 10-2 in six innings Saturday in a pair of non-conference contests at Matador Diamond. After suffering a tough 4-0 defeat to the Lions, the Matadors pounded out a season-high 10 runs and 13 hits in defeating the Redhawks.
March 12, 2013 CSUN Softball Splits Doubleheader with Northern Illinois The Cal State Northridge softball team (11-17) split its doubleheader with Northern Illinois, winning 3-2 in game one before falling in game two 2-1. Mia Pagano tossed another complete game victory in the circle and the Matadors rallied for a seventh-inning victory over the Huskies.

March 11, 2013 Mia Pagano Named Big West Pitcher of the Week Cal State Northridge senior Mia Pagano was named the Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Originally from Temecula, Calif., Pagano tossed a complete game in the Matadors' historic victory over UCLA and then added a 6+ innings of relief work with seven strikeouts in a win against CSU Bakersfield.
March 9, 2013 Matadors Split Doubleheader with CSU Bakersfield The Cal State Northridge softball team (10-16) split a doubleheader with CSU Bakersfield, losing game one 3-2 before posting a 4-2 victory in the second contest. Senior Mia Pagano tossed 6.1 innings of relief softball with just one earned run and seven strikeouts to lift the Matadors to the game two victory.
March 6, 2013 Matadors Stun No. 9 UCLA 3-2 on Bindi's Walk-off Blast The Cal State Northridge softball team (9-15) defeated No. 9 UCLA 3-2 Wednesday afternoon in its 2013 home opener at Matador Diamond. Junior Tanna Bindi blasted a two-run home run, the first of her career, over the right field fence to give the Matadors their first win over the Bruins since 1998.

March 2, 2013 Matadors Batter Weber State, DePaul in Las Vegas The Cal State Northridge softball team (8-13) defeated Weber State 8-0 in five innings and DePaul 4-2 Saturday at the UNLV Eller Medla Stadium Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev. CSUN sophomore Sydney House hit her first career home run and senior Shelly Taitrecorded a career-high nine strikeouts as the Matadors defeated the Wildcats. In the second game, CSUN jumped out to a 4-0 lead behind RBIs from Ariana Wassmer and Mikayla Thielges and Mia Pagano tossed a complete game in downing the Blue Demons.
March 1, 2013 Matadors Split First Day in Sin City The Cal State Northridge softball team (6-13) defeated New Mexico State 4-3 and lost 4-2 to UNLV Friday in its opening games at the UNLV Eller Media Stadium Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev. The Matadors overcame six errors and rallied from a 3-1 deficit entering the fifth inning to defeat the Aggies. Against the host Rebels, UNLV jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and withstood a late CSUN rally.
February 28, 2013 Matadors Travel to UNLV's Eller Media Stadium Tournament The Cal State Northridge softball team (5-12) ventures to Las Vegas, Nev., for six games as part of the UNLV Eller Media Stadium Tournament on the campus of the host Rebels. CSUN scored an early run and took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh, but the Matadors could not protect the lead and ultimately fell in extra frames to the Gaels.
February 23, 2013 Matadors Fall Twice in Second Day at Bronco Invitational The Cal State Northridge softball team (5-11) lost 4-1 to Idaho State and 2-1 to Fresno State Saturday afternoon in its second day at the Santa Clara Broncos Invitational. CSUN's offense could not keep up with its opponents, managing three hits against the Bengals and four against the Bulldogs.
February 22, 2013 Matadors Rally to Earn Split at Santa Clara Bronco Invitational The Cal State Northridge women's softball team (5-9) defeated Santa Clara 7-3 and lost 5-0 to San Jose State in its first day at the Santa Clara Broncos Invitational. Down 2-0 entering the top of the sixth, the Matadors scored six runs in the sixth and added another in the seventh to complete the comeback victory over the host Broncos.
February 19, 2013 Matadors Travel to Santa Clara Bronco Invitational The Cal State Northridge softball team (4-8) returns to Northern California this weekend for the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational. From Feb. 22-24, the Matadors will face San Jose State, Santa Clara, Idaho State, Fresno State and Saint Mary's. CSUN's game with the Spartans will be played at SJSU Field on the campus of San Jose State while Northridge's other four games will be at SCU Softball Field on the campus of Santa Clara. The Matador offense scored in every inning and registered its first run-rule victory since 2010 while senior Shelly Tait tossed five strong innings of one-hit softball.
February 16, 2013 Maas, Thielges Power CSUN Past Santa Clara 5-0 The Cal State Northridge softball team (3-7) defeated Santa Clara 5-0 Saturday morning at the Stanford Nike Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., at Smith Family Field. Mikayla Thielges hit a three-run home run, her second of the season, and Crystal Maas tossed her first complete game shutout as the Matadors won for the second time in the tournament.
February 15, 2013 Matadors Cut Down CSUB 2-1 at Stanford Nike Invitational The Cal State Northridge softball team (2-6) defeated CSU Bakersfield 2-1 Friday afternoon in the first game for both teams at the Stanford Nike Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. Junior Leann Lopez delivered the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the sixth and the Matador defense cut down the tying the run at the plate to end the game.

In game one, all five runs were scored in the first run and Brianna Elder tossed 5+ innings of hitless softball but CSUN could not produce a tying run. Game two saw the Bulldogs strike in the middle frames to take the two wins.

February 9, 2013 Matadors Fall to No. 14 Florida and No. 3 California at Kajikawa Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-3) lost 7-0 to No. 14 Florida Saturday afternoon as part of the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz. The Matadors mustered four hits and drew five walks off the Gator pitchers, but could not stem a Florida offense that scored six times in the first two innings to pull away in the contest.
February 8, 2013 CSUN Battles with No. 4 Arizona State, San Jose State on Opening Day The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-2) lost 6-1 to No. 4 Arizona State in its second game on opening day at the Kajikawa Classic. Freshman Arianna Wassmer had two hits and an RBI and sophomore Jennifer Tyler tossed several impressive innings but the Matadors could not overcome a couple Sun Devil home runs.

November 29, 2012 Matador Softball Inks Eight to National Letters of Intent for 2014 Season Cal State Northridge softball head coach Tairia Flowers has announced the signing of eight student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to begin play with the Matadors in the 2014 season. Rebecca Bell, Madison Fleming, Taylor Glover, Katie Hooper, Tara Kliebenstein, Taylor Nate Daphne Pofek and Carissa Sherman all bring extensive and successful amateur careers to Matador Diamond.

September 18, 2012 Cindy Ball Named Matador Softball Assistant Coach Cindy Ball, a coaching veteran and former all-conference selection while a player at Pacific, has joined the Cal State Northridge softball program head coach Tairia Flowers announced. Ball most recently spent time as an assistant coach at the University of Washington and will work primarily with the Matadors’ pitchers while also helping with the outfielders and other administrative duties.

The CSUN coaching staff, led by former All-American and Olympic Gold Medalist Tairia Flowers, will hold an Advanced All Skills Camp on June 19-20 and then a Youth All Skills Camp from July 17-20.
May 18, 2012 2004 Softball Team Elected to U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame As members of the 2004 United States Olympic Softball Team, Cal State Northridge softball head coach Tairia Flowers and volunteer assistant coach Natasha Watley have been elected to the United States Olympic Hall of Fame. Dubbed the "Real Dream Team" by Sports Illustrated, the team captured the Gold by outscoring its opponents 51-1 in nine games in Athens, Greece.
May 16, 2012 Mia Pagano Earns All-Big West Second Team Honors In a vote of the conference coaches, Cal State Northridge junior pitcher Mia Pagano received 2012 All-Big West Second Team honors the league office announced Wednesday. The Matadors' top hurler throughout the season, Pagano finished a deceiving 8-19 overall, but posted a 2.25 ERA and a 3:1 strikeout-walk ratio in 71.2 innings of work in Big West play.
May 12, 2012 CSUN Falls 4-1 to UCSB on Senior Day The Cal State Northridge softball team (10-42, 5-16 Big West) lost 4-1 to UC Santa Barbara in its season finale Saturday at Matador Diamond. Mikayla Thielges had an RBI single and Mia Pagano had six strikeouts, but the errors undid the Matadors' efforts on senior day.
May 11, 2012 Matadors Can't Solve Wisdom in Dropping Doubleheader The Cal State Northridge softball team (10-41, 5-15 Big West) lost twice to UC Santa Barbara Friday afternoon in a Big West Conference doubleheader at Matador Diamond. UCSB freshman Shelby Wisdom tossed a no-hitter in game one (2-0) and then added a complete-game shutout and two-run home run in the second game (7-0) to keep the Gauchos' hopes for a Big West title alive.

May 5, 2012 Matadors Drop Both Ends of Saturday Doubleheader at UC Riverside The Cal State Northridge softball team (10-38, 5-12 Big West) lost twice to UC Riverside Saturday afternoon in a Big West doubleheader at Amy S. Harrison Field. In game one, the CSUN offense could not support a strong start from Mia Pagano and lost 1-0. In game two, the Matadors came back from four runs down to tie the contest, but UCR scored a two-out run in the fifth to sweep the doubleheader.

In game one, CSUN slugged its way to a 5-2 victory behind four doubles, a home run and a solid pitching performance from Mia Pagano. In game two, Mikayla Thielges hit her seventh home run of the season to give CSUN an early lead, but the Titans responded with three home runs of their own to take a 7-2 victory.

Six different Matadors had a hit and Crystal Maas picked up her first career RBI, but Harvard scored four runs in the first two innings to get its second win of the weekend over CSUN.
March 9, 2012 Matadors Split First Day at Northridge Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (5-17) defeated Maine, 2-1, and lost to Harvard, 3-0, Friday in its first day at the Northridge Classic held at Matador Diamond. In the win over the Black Bears, Mia Pagano tossed a complete game and and allowed one unearned run to lead CSUN to a 2-1 victory. Against the Crimson, Rachel Brown fanned 13 Matadors and alowed only three hits as Harvard won 3-0.

The Matadors had outstanding pitching on the day, as Brianna Elder won her career debut against Utah State and Mia Pagano tied a career high with eight strikeouts against Nevada.
March 2, 2012 CSUN Topples Fresno State in First Day at San Diego Classic I The Cal State Northridge softball team (2-15) split its its first day at the San Diego Classic I in Santee, Calif., at the Santee Sportsplex. In its first game of the day, CSUN could not hold off a BYU rally and lost 4-1. In the second game, Northridge jumped out to an early lead and held on to defeat Fresno State, 8-5.
March 1, 2012 Matadors Venture South for San Diego Classic I in Santee, Calif. The Cal State Northridge softball team (1-14) travels to Santee, Calif., to participate in the San Diego Classic I hosted by San Diego State. At the tournament, CSUN’s five games will feature contests with BYU, Fresno State, Utah State, Nevada and San Diego. In their two games Sunday, the Matadors lost 7-0 to No. 1 California and 7-1 to San Diego State. Mikayla Thielges had CSUN's only RBI on the day, giving her a team-leading eighth on the season.
February 25, 2012 Matadors Defeat Iowa 1-0 in Eight Innings The Cal State Northridge softball team (1-12) defeated Iowa 1-0 in eight innings Saturday evening at the Cathedral City Classic. In extra innings, Samantha Sloniker executed a sac bunt and Madeline Sale delivered a Sac Fly to propel the Matadors to their first win of the season.
February 23, 2012 Northridge Loses to Boise State, No. 8 Texas at Cathedral City Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-12) lost twice Thursday at the 2012 Cathedral City Classic In the first game, CSUN held an early lead and was tied 3-3 headed into the seventh before Boise State pushed two runs across on a home run to take a 5-3 victory. In the nightcap, the Matadors lost their fifth game of the young season to a ranked opponent, falling 4-0 to the eighth-ranked Texas Longhorns.
February 22, 2012 Matadors Hit the Road for 2012 Cathedral City Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-10) remains on the road this weekend with a five-game slate at the prestigious Cathedral City Classic. The event, which is hosted by Oregon State, features teams from across the United States, including nationally ranked squads from Florida and Georgia. During their time in the California desert, the Matadors will take on teams Boise State, No. 8 Texas, Iowa, No. 1 California and future Big West Conference member San Diego State. All contests will be held at Big League Dreams Sports Park in Cathedral City, Calif.
February 21, 2012 Fun Had by All at Northridge-USSSA Pride Community Event The Cal State Northridge softball program and the USSSA Pride, a team that competes in the National Pro Fastpitch league, participated in a community event at Matador Diamond Tuesday afternoon to promote the game of softball to the surrounding communities. A large crowd of fans of all ages watched the two teams compete in a variety of game simulations and were able to get autographs from both teams following the contest.

Leann Lopez had a nice weekend for Northridge, hitting her first career double and picking up a two-hit performance against the Rainbow Wahine.
February 17, 2012 Thielges Homers Twice in Matadors' First Day in Las Vegas The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-7) lost 12-9 to Utah State and 11-1 to BYU Friday in its opening games at the UNLV Louisville Slugger Desert Classic in Las Vegas. Against Utah State, Mikayla Thielges hit two home runs and finished with three runs scored and three RBIs, but the Matadors could not rally in the end.
February 15, 2012 Northridge Heads to Sin City to Compete in UNLV Louisville Slugger Desert Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-5) heads to Las Vegas, Nev., this weekend to participate in the UNLV Louisville Slugger Desert Classic. Northridge will look to pick up its first victory of the season against a slate of five opponents that includes No. 24 LSU, BYU and future Big West member Hawai’i. Sandwiched around those three games are contests versus two schools, Utah and Utah St.

Jessica Fridwall, Alyssa Ray and Adrienne Martinez had base hits for the Matadors, but the Wildcats jumped out to an early lead and eventually posted the run-rule victory.

The Matadors took an early lead before ultimately falling 10-2 in six innings to No. 20 Nebraska. In the second game, Northridge fell behind early and lost 9-0 in five innings to Western Michigan.
February 10, 2012 Matadors Fall Twice on Opening Day at Kajikawa Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-2) lost twice Friday at the Kajikawa Classic. In game one, Korinne Randazzo blasted a solo home run, but No. 9 Stanford posted 13-1 five-inning victory. In the nightcap, Mikayla Thielges connected on a two-run blast, but Syracuse posted a 10-2 six-inning victory.
February 8, 2012 Northridge Opens 2012 Campaign with Five-Game Slate at ASU’s Kajikawa Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team starts its 2012 season with five games in Tempe, Ariz., as part of the Kajikawa Classic hosted by Arizona State University. The Matadors will certainly get a tough test right out of the gates as they will play five teams that qualified for the 2011 NCAA Tournament. September 8, 2011 CSUN Softball Alumni Game Set for October 1 The Cal State Northridge softball program will hold its annual alumni game on Saturday, October 1 at Matador Diamond beginning at noon. All former Matadors are welcome for an afternoon game and post-contest celebration and meal.
August 26, 2011 Flowers Enjoys All-American Summer It’s been just over a year since Tairia Flowers was named the softball head coach at Cal State Northridge. In those 12 months, the former All-American and Olympian has experienced a series of transitions, from the increase in responsibilities associated with being a first-year head coach to assuming a new coaching role with Team USA.
