February 12, 2012 No. 8 Arizona Downs CSUN 8-0 The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-5) lost 8-0 in six innings to No. 8 Arizona Sunday afternoon at Farrington Stadium as part of the Kajikawa Classic. Jessica Fridwall, Alyssa Ray and Adrienne Martinez had base hits for the Matadors, but the Wildcats jumped out to an early lead and eventually posted the run-rule victory.
February 11, 2012 CSUN Drops a Pair in Second Day at Kajikawa Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-4) lost twice Saturday at the Kajikawa Classic. The Matadors took an early lead before ultimately falling 10-2 in six innings to No. 20 Nebraska. In the second game, Northridge fell behind early and lost 9-0 in five innings to Western Michigan.
February 10, 2012 Matadors Fall Twice on Opening Day at Kajikawa Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-2) lost twice Friday at the Kajikawa Classic. In game one, Korinne Randazzo blasted a solo home run, but No. 9 Stanford posted 13-1 five-inning victory. In the nightcap, Mikayla Thielges connected on a two-run blast, but Syracuse posted a 10-2 six-inning victory.
February 8, 2012 Northridge Opens 2012 Campaign with Five-Game Slate at ASU’s Kajikawa Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team starts its 2012 season with five games in Tempe, Ariz., as part of the Kajikawa Classic hosted by Arizona State University. The Matadors will certainly get a tough test right out of the gates as they will play five teams that qualified for the 2011 NCAA Tournament. Among the five teams, CSUN will also face three teams that appeared in the preseason rankings (Stanford, Nebraska, Arizona) and one squad that received votes (Syracuse). Selected Northridge contests at the 2012 Kajikawa Classic will have live stats available. Fans should also refer to the Northridge Athletics Twitter site (@GoMatadors) for updates on all the action.
January 19, 2012 Northridge to Host NPF's USSSA Pride in Feb. 21 Exhibition The Cal State Northridge softball program will host an exhibition contest against the USSSA Pride of the National Pro Fastpitch league at Matador Diamond on Tuesday, Feb. 21, CSUN head coach Tairia Flowers announced. The Matadors will face some stiff competition against the Pride, who boast several Olympians and former national champions, including their own volunteer assistant coach, Natasha Watley.
January 9, 2012 Matador Softball to Host Winter Youth Clinic on January 16 The Cal State Northridge softball program will host a Winter Youth Clinic on January 16 at Matador Diamond from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In a fun and enjoyable atmosphere, participants will participate in numerous drills and game-like situations aimed at improving their skill level.
November 30, 2011 Northridge Softball Announces 2012 Schedule The Cal State Northridge women's softball program has released its 2012 schedule, head coach Tairia Flowers announced. The Matadors will face a flurry of stiff competition in several preseason tournaments before taking on the challegenes of claiming the Big West Conference title.
November 1, 2011 Matador Softball to Host Winter Showcase Camp on December 10 The Cal State Northridge women's softball program will host a Winter Showcase Camp on December 10, 2011 at Matador Diamond. The event is limited to 40 participants and is open to any and all interested girls in grades 8-12.
October 31, 2011 Flowers Helps Lead Team USA to Softball Gold at 2011 Pan Am Games Fresh off helping lead Team USA Softball to a gold medal at the Pan Am Games, CSUN softball head coach Tairia Flowers has come home to a house with no bats or balls. She knows she left them for her nearly two-year-old son Jayce to start honing his craft at the family trade, but now she can’t find them.
September 8, 2011 CSUN Softball Alumni Game Set for October 1 The Cal State Northridge softball program will hold its annual alumni game on Saturday, October 1 at Matador Diamond beginning at noon. All former Matadors are welcome for an afternoon game and post-contest celebration and meal.
August 26, 2011 Flowers Enjoys All-American Summer It’s been just over a year since Tairia Flowers was named the softball head coach at Cal State Northridge. In those 12 months, the former All-American and Olympian has experienced a series of transitions, from the increase in responsibilities associated with being a first-year head coach to assuming a new coaching role with Team USA.
August 25, 2011 CSUN Softball Tryouts Set for Sept. 12 The Cal State Northridge softball program will hold open tryouts on September 12 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Matador Diamond, CSUN head coach Tairia Flowers has announced.
