2008 Northridge Softball Year in Review

Highlighted by four selections to the All-Big West Team and a 12-9 record in Big West Conference play, the Cal State Northridge softball team's 2008 season featured a challenging slate of contests and outstanding performances. After finishing the season 23-24 and with seven starters returning on offense, expectations will once again be high for the Matadors and head coach Barbara Jordan when the 2009 season arrives. (MORE)

Big West Conference softball coaches selected four Matadors to the 2008 All-Big West Softball team, the Big West Conference announced Tuesday. Sophomore Jaclyn Rymer highlighted Northridge's honorees, earning All-Big West First Team recognition for her play at first base. (MORE)
Matadors Split Friday Doubleheader with UC Davis

The Cal State Northridge softball team (22-24, 11-9) split a Big West Conference doubleheader Saturday with the UC Davis Aggies, dropping game one, 2-0, before rallying to take game two, 8-7. Senior Mercedes Lovato picked up her 18th win of the season in game two and junior Amanda Peek had five hits on the day to raise her season average to .413. (MORE)
Senior Day Festivities Highlight Northridge Softball Series against UC Davis

All that stands between the Cal State Northridge softball team (21-23, 10-8) and a .500 season is UC Davis, as the Matadors and Aggies open a three-game Big West Conference softball series Friday with a doubleheader followed by a single game on Saturday. CSUN head coach Barbara Jordan and the team understands the importance of the series as they continue their quest for an NCAA regional berth. (MORE)
Matadors Complete Sweep of UC Riverside with 2-1 Victory

The Cal State Northridge softball team (21-23, 10-8) defeated UC Riverside, 2-1, Sunday at Amy S. Harrison Field. Sophomore Alexandria Alvarado had three hits and scored both CSUN runs while senior Mercedes Lovato won her 17th game of the season. (MORE)
