NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- The Cal State Northridge softball team (5-18) lost 5-2 to Harvard Saturday afternoon at the Northridge Classic at Matador Diamond. Six different Matadors had a hit and Crystal Maas picked up her first career RBI, but Harvard scored four runs in the first two innings to get its second win of the weekend over CSUN.
The Crimson scored four runs, three of which were earned, off Northridge starting pitcher Alexa Limon (0-4) in the first two innings. She gave way to Mia Pagano, who went the final 5.2 innings of the game. Pagano allowed one earned run with three strikeouts while allowing just two hits.
At the plate, CSUN did not strikeout in the game. Jaci Carlsen and Tanna Bindi each had doubles and Maas had the team's only RBI. With two outs in the third, Maas dropped a single into right field that scored Mikayla Thielges.
The Matadors nearly rallied in the seventh inning. Bindi started things with a double and then scored on a single by Samantha Sloniker and a Crimson error. However, Sloniker would be stranded at third to end the contest.
The Matadors close out their time at the 2012 Northridge Classic with a game against the Maine Black Bears at 2 p.m. Oregon State and Harvard play at 9 a.m. and Harvard and Maine play at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Mar. 11, as well.
