The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team (7-7-1, 2-2 BWC) heads out on the road for the final time this season, traveling to UC Irvine and Long Beach State for a pair of Big West Conference matches. With six points through four games, Northridge hope to pick up points against a pair of teams currently ahead of them in the standings.

The Matadors enter the week fresh off a weekend sweep over UC Davis and Pacific in which freshman Nancy Avesyan earned Big West Women's Soccer Co-Player of the Week honors after scoring the game-winning goal in both contests. She now leads the team with 11 points, the result of four goals and three assists.

The victory over UC Davis was especially memorable for CSUN because it marked the 100th win the program's history. The Matadors are now 101-135-22 (.434) since starting play in 1995.

Sophomore Leah Elliott also performed well in the victories over the Aggies and Tigers. She posted her second shutout of the season in the 2-0 victory over UC Davis. She now stands second in the league in saves with 86, third in save percentage (.819) and fifth in goals-against-average (1.22).

Another freshman, Brielle Slepicoff, also scored over the weekend, netting her first career goal in the UC Davis contest. She now stands at five points for the season and three assists to go along with the goal.

Senior Kristal Phillips picked up her fifth assist of the season over the weekend, moving her into second in school history with 12 career assists. Her five assists in 2008 also rank seventh in school history for a single season.

UC Irvine enters Thursday's match having split its two games last weekend, losing 2-1 to Cal State Fullerton before defeating UC Riverside 1-0. Kate Berrini leads the team with four goals and 10 points on the season. Tanya Taylor's four assists is the top mark on the squad and she is one of four Anteaters with two goals.

UC Irvine has used three different goalkeepers this season, with Erica Quevedo owning a 3-1-0 record with three shutouts and .912 save percentage. Erin Henry and Danielle de Seriere have also started in net for Irvine. The Anteaters and Matadors played to a 0-0 draw last season in Northridge, and CSUN owns a 6-3-2 record in the all-time series.

On Sunday, Northridge travels down the 405 to face league-leading Long Beach State. The 49ers defeated UC Riverside 4-1 and Cal State Fullerton 1-0 in its two matches last weekend. Lindsay Bullock leads the team with eight goals and 17 points on the season.
