Miguel Ruiz begins his sixth season as a member of the Cal State Northridge Women's soccer staff in 2014, his first year as the top assistant after serving as the volunteer assistant in 2009 and as the second assistant for four years. With the Matadors, Ruiz is responsible for developing training regiments and other administrative responsibilities.
A native of Simi Valley, Calif., Ruiz joined the Matadors after two successful seasons as an assistant coach at Kansas Wesleyan. Working with both the men's and women's programs, Ruiz helped guide the Coyotes to conference titles in 2007 and 2008. The women's team also qualified for the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in program history under Ruiz's watch.
In addition to his role with CSUN, Ruiz also coaches two boys teams for FC Golden State. Ruiz played two seasons for Moorpark College, roaming the defensive back line in the 2001 and 2002 seasons.
He received his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Kansas Wesleyan in 2009 and received a Master's Degree in Sports Management from Southern New Hampshire University in 2011. Ruiz is single and resides in Woodland Hills.
