November 8, 2012 Big West Champion CSUN Heads to SDSU for NCAA Tournament Opening Round The Cal State Northridge women’s soccer team (11-4-6) will face San Diego State in the opening round of the 2012 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament. The Matadors will be making their first-ever appearance in the 64-team field and will travel to meet up with a future Big West Conference opponent in the Aztecs. November 5, 2012 CSUN to Face Future Big West Foe San Diego State in NCAA Opening Round After winning its first-ever Big West Championship, the Cal State Northridge women's soccer program (11-4-6) will take on future Big West Conference rival San Diego State in the opening round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament. November 4, 2012 Fernandez's Golden Goal Captures CSUN's First Big West Title Senior midfielder Melissa Fernandez scored a golden goal in the 92nd minute of play to power the Cal State Northridge Matadors (11-4-6, 6-1-2 Big West) to the program's first ever Big West Conference Championship with a 1-0 win over the Cal State Fullerton Titans (10-9-1, 7-2-0 Big West) on Sunday afternoon at Anteater Stadium.
November 1, 2012 Matadors Advance to Big West Tournament Final, Blank Cal Poly 1-0 Melissa Fernandez scored her seventh goal of the season and goalkeeper Cynthia Jacobo made four saves in net to lift the second-seeded Cal State Northridge Matadors (10-4-6, 6-1-2 Big West) to a 1-0 win over the third-seeded Cal Poly Mustangs (9-7-3, 6-1-2 Big West) in the Big West Tournament Semifinals at Anteater Stadium.
October 31, 2012 Matadors Collect Multiple Awards on 2012 All-Big West Conference Team The Cal State Northridge women's soccer program collected two individual awards and placed six student-athletes on the 2012 All-Big West Conference Team. Senior Cynthia Jacobo won her second-straight Goalkeeper of the Year award while junior Chloe McDaniel was named Defensive Player of the Year. Joining Jacobo and McDaniel on the First Team was senior Melissa Fernandez while senior Stephanie Galarze received Second Team honors and senior Katie Russ and Freshman Taylor Hobson earned Honorable Mention.
October 31, 2012 CSUN Faces Cal Poly in Big West Tournament at Anteater Stadium The Cal State Northridge women’s soccer team (9-4-6 Overall, 6-1-2 Big West) will face the Cal Poly Mustangs Thursday at 5 p.m. at Anteater Stadium in a Big West Conference Tournament semifinal contest. The Matadors, who have earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament, face a rematch with the Mustangs after the two teams played to a dramatic 2-2 draw in San Luis Obispo, Calif. October 29, 2012 Chloe McDaniel Named Big West Defensive Player of the Week Cal State Northridge junior Chloe McDaniel was named the Big West Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. A center back from Palmdale, Calif., McDaniel played all 214 minutes for the Matadors this past weekend as the club picked up road results at UC Irvine and Long Beach State.
October 28, 2012 Hobson's Golden Goal Sends Matadors to Big West Tournament Freshman midfielder Taylor Hobson scored off of a rebound in the 104th minute of play to propel the Cal State Northridge Matadors (9-4-6, 6-1-2 Big West) to a 1-0 upset over the Long Beach State 49ers (12-7, 5-4 Big West) on Sunday afternoon at George Allen Field. With the win, the Matadors clinched the second seed in the Big West Tournament and will face the Cal Poly Mustangs on November 1 at 5 p.m. at Anteater Stadium in Irvine, Calif.
October 26, 2012 Matadors and Anteaters Play to Scoreless Draw The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team (8-4-6, 5-1-2 Big West) played to a scoreless draw with UC Irvine Friday evening in a Big West Conference match at Anteater Stadium. The 0-0 draw marks the third time since the 2007 season that the Matadors and Anteaters played to a scoreless draw.

Senior Melissa Fernandez scored the match's only goal in the 24th minute and fellow senior Cynthia Jacobo made four saves to set the school record for career wins.
October 20, 2012 Matadors Post 6-1 Victory over Pacific The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team (7-4-5, 4-1-1 Big West) defeated Pacific 6-1 Friday evening in a Big West conference match at Matador Soccer Field. Senior Melissa Fernandez had two goals and four other Matadors found the back of the net as CSUN posted its most goals in a contest since the 2006 season.
October 17, 2012 CSUN Hosts Pacific, UC Davis in Regular Season Home Finale The Cal State Northridge women’s soccer team (6-4-5, 3-1-1 Big West) hosts the University of the Pacific and UC Davis at Matador Soccer Field for its final two regular season home games of the 2012 season. On Oct. 19, CSUN faces the Tigers at 7 p.m. in Pacific’s last match at Matador Soccer Field as a member of the Big West Conference. Two days later, the Aggies come calling to the San Fernando Valley for a 1 p.m. contest on Senior Day. The Matadors will honor their nine senior student-athletes participating in their final regular season home match prior to the start of the contest.
October 14, 2012 Matadors Upend Gauchos for 1-0 Road Victory The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team (6-4-5, 3-1-1 Big West) defeated UC Santa Barbara 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Harder Stadium in a Big West Conference match. Freshman Taylor Hobson scored her first career goal in the 84th minute as the Matadors defeated the host Gauchos in Santa Barbara for the first time since 1999.
October 13, 2012 CSUN Rallies for 2-2 Draw at Cal Poly The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team (5-4-5, 2-1-1 Big West) played to a 2-2 draw at host Cal Poly Friday night at Alex G. Spanos Stadlium in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Trailing 2-0 after six minutes of play, the Matadors mounted a rousing comeback that culminated in Stephanie Galarze's game-tying goal with two seconds left in regulation.
October 11, 2012 CSUN Faces Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara in Tough Road Tests The Cal State Northridge women’s soccer team (5-4-4, 2-1 Big West) faces a pair of stiff tests as it hits the road for the first time in Big West Conference play. On Friday, Oct. 12, the Matadors travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif., to face league-leading Cal Poly in a 7 p.m. tilt. The Titans scored the game winner less than a minute into overtime to snap a four-match losing streak to the Matadors.

Seniors Nicole Cruz and Melissa Fernandez each had goals and Cynthia Jacobo made three saves as the Matadors shut out the Rainbow Wahine.
September 28, 2012 Matadors Play No. 21 Pilots to 1-1 Draw The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team (3-3-4) played to a 1-1 draw over 110 minutes with No. 21 Portland Thursday night in a non-conference game on the Pilots' campus. After Portland jumped ahead with a goal midway through the second half, CSUN leveled things for the evening on a Pilot own-goal in the 69th minute of action.
September 25, 2012 CSUN Travels to No. 21 Portland Before Hosting Hawai’i in League Opener The Cal State Northridge women’s soccer team (3-3-3) splits its two games this week, making its only trip out of the state of California before opening the 2012 Big West Conference campaign. On Thursday, Sept. 27, CSUN travels for a match at No. 21 Portland and a 7 p.m. kickoff. Three days later, Northridge returns to the San Fernando Valley for its league opener, a Sept. 30 contest with Hawai’i at 6 p.m. at Matador Soccer Field.

Kelley McCloskey headed home a cross from Lauren Dotson in the 51st minute for the game's only goal as the Toreros evened the season series with the Matadors.
September 22, 2012 No. 23 Santa Clara Edges CSUN in Overtime, 1-0 The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team (3-2-3) lost 1-0 in overtime to No. 23 Santa Clara Friday night in a non-conference contest at Buck Shaw Stadium. A Matador turnover 25 yards from goal squirted out to a Bronco whose shot took a deflection and beat Matador goalkeeper Cynthia Jacobo in the 99th minute of action.
September 20, 2012 Northridge Returns to Action at No. 23 Santa Clara, against San Diego The Cal State Northridge women’s soccer team (3--1-3) returns to action this week with a pair of contests against talented squads from the West Coast Conference. On Friday, Sept. 21, the Matadors make the trip up the California coast to face No. 23 Santa Clara for the first time in school history in a 7:30 p.m. contest. Two days later, CSUN returns to Matador Soccer Field to face San Diego in a 6 p.m. contest. The Matadors defeated the Toreros earlier this season, 3-0, in San Diego.
September 18, 2012 Cynthia Jacobo Named Candidate for Senior CLASS Award Cal State Northrige senior goalkeeper Cynthia Jacobo has been named a candidate for the 2012 Senior CLASS Award, the premier award for senior student-athletes in NCAA Division I athletics. Jacobo, a four-year starter in net for the Matadors, is one of 30 women's soccer senior student-athlete finalists from which a final list of 10 will be selected by members of national media panel.
September 10, 2012 Cynthia Jacobo Named Big West Defensive Player of the Week Cal State Northridge senior goalkeeper Cynthia Jacobo was named the Big West Conference Defensive Player of the Week after helping lead the Matadors to a pair of hard-fought draws, the league office announced Monday. Against a nationally ranked Tennessee squad, Jacobo made 11 saves and held the Lady Vols off the scoreboard for the first time in 2012. Two nights later, Jacobo had a career-high 15 stops, one shy of the school record, as CSUN battled to a 1-1 draw with USC.
September 9, 2012 Matadors and Trojans Battle to 1-1 Draw The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team (3-1-3) tied USC 1-1 Sunday evening in a non-conference match at Matador Soccer Field. CSUN's Brittanie Sakajian and USC's Samantha Johnson scored roughly 100 seconds apart midway through the second half in another tightly contested contest in the San Fernando Valley.

September 6, 2012 Northridge Squares Off with No. 22 Tennessee, USC in Home Matches The Cal State Northridge women’s soccer team (3-1-1) hosts the University of Tennessee (Sept. 7, 7 p.m.) and USC (Sept. 9, 6:30 p.m.) in a pair of non-conference matches at Matador Soccer Field this weekend. The Matadors’ match with the 22nd-ranked Lady Vols will be the first time CSUN has faced an opponent from the powerful Southeastern Conference (SEC). Two days later, Northridge renews its local rivalry with USC, a team it has not seen since the 2008 season.
September 5, 2012 CSUN Soccer Sophomores Thrive after Return from Knee Injuries Cal State Northridge women's soccer sophomores Nicolette Smith and Brittanie Sakajian have overcome multiple knee injuries to play pivotal roles for the 2012 Matadors. Smith has missed all of the last two seasons, but has overcome that adversity with a return to the pitch this season. Sakajian missed all of 2011 and already has recorded a point for the Matadors since returning to the field.
August 30, 2012 Northridge Upends Michigan 1-0 The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team (3-1-1) defeated Michigan 1-0 Thursday night at Matador Soccer Field. Redshirt freshman Cori Deason collected a lob from senior Stephanie Norton and slipped it past the Wolverine goalkeeper in the 79th to give CSUN its first win in over a Big 10 Conference opponent in school history.
August 28, 2012 Northridge Kicks Off Labor Day Weekend with Home Match against Michigan The Cal State Northridge women’s soccer team (2--1-1) hosts the University of Michigan Thursday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. at Matador Soccer Field. The match-up between the Matadors and Wolverines will be the first time the two schools have met on the soccer pitch and just the third time in school history that the Matadors will face an opponent from the Big 10 Conference. Both live stats and live audio (internet-only) will be hosted on GoMatadors.com for the contest.
August 26, 2012 CSUN, Fresno State Play to 1-1 Draw The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team (2-1-1) tied Fresno State 1-1 Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match at Matador Soccer Field. Melissa Fernandez scored the Matadors' goal in the 53rd minute, but Lauren Lindstrom tied things up in the 75th minute for Fresno State.
August 24, 2012 No. 24 Baylor Edges CSUN 2-1 The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team (2-1) lost 2-1 to No. 24 Baylor Friday evening at Matador Soccer Field. After jumping ahead 1-0 on a Bear own-goal, Baylor executed two free kicks to near perfection to rally for the comeback win.
August 22, 2012 Northridge Begins Homestand with Matches against No. 24 Baylor, Fresno State The Cal State Northridge women’s soccer team (2-0) welcomes Baylor University and Fresno State to the San Fernando Valley for a pair of non-conference contests at Matador Soccer Field. On Friday, Aug. 24 the Matadors will meet the newly 24th-ranked Bears in a 7 p.m. rematch of a 1-0 Baylor victory in Waco, Texas last season. Two days later, CSUN renews acquaintances with the Bulldogs of Fresno State at 1 p.m.
August 20, 2012 Cal State Northridge Sweeps Big West Weekly Honors After recording a pair of shutouts this past weekend to open the 2012 season, Cal State Northridge earned three Player of the Week awards to cap off a successful start to the year. Stephanie Galarze took home the Big West Offensive Player of the Week award, goalkeeper Cynthia Jacobo was voted as the league's Defensive Player of the Week and defender Stephanie Norton was named the top player in the conference this week by College Sports Madness.
August 19, 2012 Matadors Record 3-0 Shutout Over San Diego Fresh off of a shutout on Friday night over Arizona State, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (2-0) again kept the opposition from scoring with a 3-0 win over the University of San Diego Toreros (0-2) on Sunday afternoon. Three different Matadors scored and defender Stephanie Norton tallied two assists to lead Northridge to its second consecutive victory and first ever at Torero Stadium.
August 17, 2012 Seniors Lead CSUN to 1-0 Victory over Arizona State The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team (1-0) defeated Arizona State 1-0 Friday evening in both team's 2012 season opener. Senior Stephanie Galarze scored her third career goal in the 10th minute off a cross from freshman Lyndsey Preston as the Matadors won their first game over a Pac-12 opponent since 1999.
August 14, 2012 Northridge Opens 2012 Season with Contests against Arizona State, San Diego The Cal State Northridge women’s soccer team opens its 2012 season with a pair of non-conference matches. The season officially starts on Friday, August 17 with a 7:30 p.m. match against Arizona State at Matador Soccer Field. Two days later, CSUN hits the road for the first time when it takes on the USD Toreros in San Diego on Sunday, August 19 at 1 p.m. Both games will feature live stats and the contest with Sun Devils will feature a live internet-only broadcast, provided by Stretch Internet, on GoMatadors.com.

May 30, 2012 Northridge Women's Soccer Releases 2012 Schedule The Cal State Northridge women’s soccer program, led by seventh-year head coach Keith West, has released its schedule for the upcoming 2012 season. Beginning in early August, the Matadors will take on a challenging slate of non-conference contests before starting another year of Big West Conference competition.
May 3, 2012 Matador Women's Soccer Adds Class of Nine for 2012 The Cal State Northridge women’s soccer program and head coach Keith West announced the signing of nine incoming-freshmen student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to start play in the 2012 season. Corryn Barney, Briana Geffre, Hayley Greep, Teylor Hawkins, Taylor Hobson, Lyndsey Preston, Nichole Thompson, Macey Herrera and Sylvia Trinh all bring extensive club and high school credentials to the Matadors starting in the fall.

An early Matador goal did not stand up and now Northridge must await the weekend's results to see whether or not theywill participate in next week's Big West Tournament.
