Kylie Kimura Named 2011 All-Big West Honorable Mention

April 26, 2011

IRVINE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge junior Kylie Kimura was named All-Big West honorable mention as the 2011 Big West All-Conference Team was announced on Tuesday, Apr. 26.

Kimura, a junior from Covina, Calif., was the lone selection for the Matadors who finished sixth at the conference championship on Apr. 17-19. In her first season, she led Northridge in scoring with a 77.24 stroke average which ranks fourth in Matador single-season history.

The Matadors have now had seven honorable mention All-Big West selections over the past seven seasons. Margo Dionisio and Ashlee Nagamine were both named honorable mention all-conference selections last season. Northridge's last first team selection was Eva Yoe in 2008 while Jennifer Yoo was the last second team pick for the Matadors in 2006.

Kimura was the Matadors' most consistent player for much of the season as she posted a team-best two top-10 finishes and had three top-20 showings. Her first-place finish at Cal Poly's Firestone Grill Invitational propelled CSUN to its lone team victory of the season. Kimura was the Matadors' low scorer in five of 11 tournaments this season.
