ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - Krystina Gillenwater fired an opening round 76 and the Cal State Northridge women's golf team is tied for 10th place after one round of the Lamkin Grip Cal Poly Invitational at Cypress Ridge Golf Course.
Gillenwater is currently in 18th place at 76 (+4) to lead the Matadors, who are at 311 as a team. Freshman Lady Samson and senior Katrina Sutton are both tied for 32nd at 78 (+6), Kendall Patton is tied for 44th at 79 (+7) and senior Stephanie Aston is tied for 53rd at 80 (+8).
San Jose State shot 295 and four teams are within eight strokes of the Spartans. There are a total of 18 schools competing in the two-day, 36-hole event, including two teams from UC Riverside. The Highlanders' A team is in third with a 300 total, followed by Sacramento State at 301 and Bradley at 303.
Xavier's Mary Beth McKenna and Bradley's Bari Erais are co-indivual leaders after each posted an opening round 69 (-3) Monday.
The final round is scheduled for Tuesday.
