March 15, 2011

KANEOHE, Hawai'i - After posting team rounds of 329-313 on Monday, Cal State Northridge shot the fourth-lowest round on Tuesday with a 308 as the Matadors moved up to a 14th-place finish at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at Kaneohe Klipper G.C.

"It was nice to finish strong," said head coach Bonnie Murphy. "We improved each round so that was good. We need to start out better and learn a little bit more during the practice round."

CSUN finished with rounds of 329-313-308, improving by 21 strokes from the opening round to the final round.

Individually, junior Kylie Kimura had CSUN's top finish as she moved up from a tie for 61st into a tie for 26th with a final round of one over-par 73. Kimura sat at (+15) 159 after two rounds but carded one of the low rounds of the tournament on Tuesday with her final round 73. It was just one shot off her season-low round of 72.

Senior Ashlee Nagamine finished tied for 59th in her final tournament in her home state. Nagamine posted a final round (+6) 78 to finish the tournament at (+22) 238 after rounds of 83-77-78. Nagamine's final total is her best since the New Mexico State tournament in October.

Ellen Krausse also posted her low round of the tournament on Tuesday with a final round five over-par 77. Krausse moved up 11 spots from 78th to 67th with rounds of 85-79-77 to finish at (+25) 241.
