Matadors Struggle to Final Round 343, Finish 15th at Bruin Wave Invitational

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge women's golf team struggled to a final round 343 and slipped to a 15th-place finish at the Bruin Wave Invitational at Robinson Ranch G.C. Junior Ashlee Nagamine's 57th-place finish led the Matadors.
Northridge, which rebounded from an opening-round 317 to card a 303 on Tuesday, struggled in Wednesday's final round posting a 343 which is their high 18 hole team score of the 2009-10 season.
After having all five players post scores in the 70's on Tuesday, three Matadors scored in the 80's and two players scored in the 90's on Wednesday.
Junior Ashlee Nagamine, who began the day in 38th place after a second round 74, slipped into a tie for 57th after a final round 83. Nagamine wound up the three-day tournament with scores of 77-74-83 for a (+18) 234.
Freshman Tammy Panich followed up rounds of 80-77 on Monday and Tuesday with a final round 83 but only dropped three spots on the leaderboard. Panich wound up tied for 68th at (+24) 240.
Junior Maurissa Medina also stayed roughly in the same position despite a final round 85. Medina was tied for 72nd after rounds of 81-78 and wound up tied for 76th at (+28) 244.
Freshmen Clariss Guce and Margo Dionisio had tough rounds on Wednesday. Guce, who was tied for 61st after two rounds, slipped to 87th after a final round 93. Guce finished at (+33) 249 followed by Dionisio who was tied for 89th at (+35) 251. Dionisio completed rounds of 84-75-92.
Pepperdine freshman Danielle Kang won the individual title while USC held off Arizona State to win the inaugural Bruin Wave Invitational, co-hosted by Pepperdine and UCLA.
The three-day event was held at the par-72 Robinson Ranch Golf Club.
