TARZANA, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge women's golf team is in 15th-place after 36 holes of the Bruin Wave Invitational Monday at El Caballero Country Club. Senior Clariss Guce is tied for 37th place to lead the Matador women.
Coming off a team championship at their own Matador Invitatonal two weeks ago, CSUN got off to a tough start as an opening round 322 left them tied for 16th. In a stacked tournament field, the Matadors posted an eight-shot improvement in round two to move into 15th.
Guce carded an opening round six over-par 78 and was tied for 41st but finished the second round at four-over 76 to move into a tie for 37th at 10-over 154. Cesilie Hagen is tied for 54th at 15-over 159 following rounds of 79-80, Sharon Shin moved up 15 spots after an opening round 84 with a second round six-over 78 and is currently tied for 70th at 19-over 163.
Arinda Bhanaraksa was 77th after an opening round 84 and remained there after a second round 80. Bhanaraksa is at 20-over 164 through 36 holes followed by Elisabeth Haavardsholm who is 81st at 22-over 166 after scores of 81-85.
The third and final round gets underway Tuesday morning.
