CSUN Set to Host Inaugural Matador Invitational

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge women's golf is set to host the inaugural Matador Invitational this coming Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 10-11 at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley.

The two-day tournament will take place over three days with a practice round on Sunday (Feb. 9), 36 holes on Monday (Feb. 10) and 18 holes on Tuesday (Feb. 11). The eight-team field of 51 players will face the challenging Wood Ranch Golf Club layout. The par-72 course plays to 2,888 yards on the front nine and 2,993 yards on the back nine for a total yardage of 5,881.

WHEN:   Sunday, Feb. 9, Practice Round (1 p.m.) Monday, Feb. 10, 36 holes (shotgun start at 8 a.m.)  Tuesday, Feb. 11, 18 holes (sequential start at 7 a.m.).

FORMAT:   54 holes (51 players) Each school will field a team of five players with USC fielding individuals whose score will not count towards team scoring.

FIELD:   BYU, Cal Poly, CSU Bakersfield, Hawai'i, Northern Colorado, Sacramento State, UC Riverside, USC, Cal State Northridge.

RESULTS:   Golfstat Live Scoring of the 2014 Matador Invitational will be available here. Results will also be posted on the official website of Cal State Northridge athletics, www.GoMatadors.com at the conclusion of the first day and at the conclusion of the tournament.


"This is the inaugural year or the Matador Invitational at Wood Ranch Golf Club," said CSUN head coach Gina Umeck. "CSUN women's golf aims to grow the event to include representation from all parts of the country. The Southern California location of Wood Ranch provides an excellent respite for the many teams who are stuck in cold climates in the winter months and the club has been a long time supporter of Cal State Northridge."
