Matadors Third Through 36 Holes at UCR's Birdies for Breast Cancer Tournament

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - A pair of Cal State Northridge golfers are in the top-10 and the Matadors sit third as a team through the first 36 holes at the Birdies for Breast Cancer tournament at Oak Quarry G.C.

CSUN (593) trails second place Cal Baptist (590) by three shots and are 11 strokes behind team-leading UC Riverside (582) heading into Tuesday's final round. As a team, the Matadors posted rounds of 285-308.

Senior Clariss Guce is fifth after firing an opening round three under-par 69 and a second round 75. Guce (144) heads into the final round just six shots behind UC Riverside's Brittani Ferraro (138).

Newcomer Cesilie Hagen, playing in her first tournament for CSUN, is tied for seventh at two-over 146 after posting rounds of 71-75. Junior Sharon Shin is tied for 18th at nine-over 153, Elisabeth Haavardsholm is tied for 19th at 10-over 154 and Ellen Brantberg is tied for 29th at (+14) 158.
