Matador Women's Hoops Adds Haley White for Upcoming Season
July 12, 2010
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Haley White of Colony High School has signed a Financial Aid Agreement to play for the Cal State Northridge women's basketball program beginning in the 2010-11 season, head coach Jason Flowers announced. A 5-9 guard, White was a Max Preps All-Mt. Baldy Second Team selection after helping lead the Titans to back-to-back CIF Southern Section IIA Championships.
"Haley has been a champion at every level of her basketball career and we are excited to have her join our program," Flowers said. "She is a skilled guard who plays an all-around game on both ends of the court. She is also someone who will contribute both to the campus and surrounding communities."
During her senior season, White led Colony with an average of 3.0 assists per game and she recorded a season-high seven assists and 16 points against Don Lugo on Jan. 19, 2010. While playing for head coach Fonda Wilson, White and the Titans finished the 2009-10 season as the California State Southern Section quarter finalist.
With the Matadors, White will probably see time in the Matadors' backcourt. She will compete with Anna Simmons and Janelle Nomura at the point guard and Amanda Thomson and Bridgette Conejo for time at shooting guard.
White is the first player to officially sign with CSUN since Coach Flowers was hired on May 27, 2010. The Matadors now have 12 players on their roster for 2011-12 season. A complete schedule for the Northridge women's hoops program will be released at a later date.
