NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -
The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team lost Wednesday night, 88-77, to The Master's College at The Matadome in an exhibition contest. Senior Ashley Blake led the Matadors with 17 points, including four 3-pointers, while sophomore Analee Viena-Lota added a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds.
For Blake, the 17 points and the four 3-pointers would have tied career highs had the game been a regulation contest. She added two assists and a rebound in her 34 minutes of action.
Viena-Lota posted what would have been her third career double-double in the game. Seven of her 15 boards were offensive and she added four assists and three steals, which would have both tied career highs. She recorded back-to-back double-doubles against UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton in her freshman season.
Senior Whitney Ligon was the third Matador to reach double figures in the contest, scoring 12 points in 21 minutes of action. She hit two 3-pointers in the game.
Senior Tonicia Tademy finished with eight points, nine assists and four steals and four rebounds in 29 minutes of play before fouling out. Freshman Bridgette Conejo added seven points off the bench for Northridge.
As a team, CSUN shot 39 percent from the field (32-of-82) and out-rebounded the Mustangs, 51-35, in the game. The Master's College connected on 27 free throws in the game and forced 22 Northridge turnovers.
The Matadors open their 2008-09 season on Nov. 14 when they travel to Houston, Texas, to face the Rice Owls of Conference USA. Tip off is slated for 7 p.m. (CST).
