Abby Vaughan begins her second season with the Matadors as an assistant coach after being named to the position on June 7, 2007. With the Matadors, Vaughan serves as the recruiting coordinator and coaches the team's guards. Vaughan joined the Matadors after spending the 2006-07 season as an assistant coach at San Jose State, Vaughan's responsibilities with the Spartans included serving as the recruiting coordinator, coached the team's guards and organized the team's travel. Vaughan brings extensive coaching experience to the position. Before her stint at San Jose State, she serves as the head girl's basketball coach at Mission Bay High School in San Diego from 2003-2006. At Mission Bay, she also served as the varsity girl's softball coach during the 2005 season. Along with her duties at Mission Bay, Vaughan also served as the associate head coach for the Below the Rim Basketball club team. She helped guide the team to an AAU National Championship in 2004 and 12 of her players earned scholarships at Division I, II and III universities. A two-year captain at Boise State, Vaughan is the school's all-time three-point leader with 260 and single-season record holder with 81 three-pointers in the 2002-03 season. She sits eighth all-time on the Bronco scoring chart with 1,091 points, a 9.4 ppg average, in 116 games, tying her for third all-time in games played. She also finished ninth on the all-time assist list and fourth in three-point percentage. Vaughan graduated from Boise State in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in communications and English. She resides in LA County.
