The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (16-16) lost 45-31 to UC Santa Barbara Wednesday evening in a Big West Tournament Quarterfinal at the Bren Events Center on the campus of UC Irvine. Northridge struggled mightily from the field throughout the contest and lost their 14th-straight game to the Gauchos.

The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (16-15) defeated UC Davis 61-40 Tuesday evening in the Big West Tournament’s First Round at the Bren Events Center on the campus of UC Irvine. Violet Alama and Ashlee Guay each scored 14 for the Matadors, who used a quick start and tough defense to defeat the Aggies and post their first win in the league’s postseason tournament since 2009.

Cal State Northridge freshman Marta Masoni has left the team due to personal reasons and is not expected to return, CSUN head coach Jason Flowers announced. A 6-2 perimeter player from Taranto, Italy, Masoni averaged 12.4 points in 23 starts for the Matadors.

Violet Alama finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Matadors, but the Tigers shot a blistering 65.2 percent (15-of-23) from 3-point range and 60.9 percent (14-of-23) in the second half to pull away with the victory.

CSUN Hosts Eastern Washington before Trip to Arizona
The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (1-0) plays two games over the upcoming weekend, including its second-straight contest in The Matadome to open the 2012-13 season. Matador Women’s Basketball Enjoys Banner Year in 2011-12 Season
Flowers guided the Matadors to an impressive and historic campaign in the 2011-12 season. The Matadors finished 17-14 overall, compiling the best turnaround in the nation, and posted an 11-5, second-place finish in the Big West Conference. The success culminated in an invitation to the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT), just the second time in the school’s Division-I history that the Matadors participated in the postseason.

The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (4-3) lost 90-72 to Santa Clara Thursday evening in a non-conference game at The Matadome. Freshmen Ashlee Guay and Janae Sharpe each had 13 points for the Matadors, who could not overcome a slow start in suffering their first home loss of the season.

Jasmine Erving Named Big West Player of the Week
Senior Jasmine Erving of the Cal State Northridge women's basketball program was named the Big West Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Erving was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Woodland Hills Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Basketball Classic 2011 after helping to lead the team to victories over Colgate and West Virginia.

Northridge Outlasts West Virginia to Claim Thanksgiving Classic Championship
Sophomore Kaitlyn Petersen led the Matadors in scoring with 17 points, including a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line, as Cal State Northridge (4-2) defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers (3-2) 48-47 in the championship game of the Holiday Inn Woodland Hills Thanksgiving Basketball Classic 2011. The victory for the Matadors is the first over a Big East program in school history.

The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (2-2) plays its first two home games of the 2011-12 season this weekend as the Matadors host the Woodland Hills Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Basketball Classic 2011 Nov. 25 and Nov. 26 at The Matadome. Northridge welcomes in UCLA, Colgate and West Virginia to the San Fernando Valley for a four-team, two-day tournament.

The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (2-2) lost 73-67 to Washington Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest at Alaska Airlines Arena. Senior Jasmine Erving led CSUN with 21 points and 10 rebounds, but the Matadors could not hold on to their halftime lead.

The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (2-1) lost 83-63 to Oregon State Thursday night at Gil Coliseum in a non-conference contest. Camille Mahlknecht led the Matadors with 14 points, but the Matadors could not stop the Beavers early in the second half as they lost their first game of the season.

Matadors Remain on the Road for Contests at Oregon State, Washington
The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (2-0) heads to the Pacific Northwest this weekend to face two foes out of the Pac 12 Conference. On Thursday, Nov. 17, the Matadors meet Oregon State in Gill Coliseum for a 7 p.m. contest. Two days later, CSUN will head to Seattle to face Washington at the Alaska Airlines Arena. CSUN Women's Hoops Signs Three to National Letters of Intent
The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball program has signed three high school seniors to National Letters of Intent, Matador head coach Jason Flowers announced. Breeyon Alexander, Jasmine Johnson and Johnece Miller all bring in outstanding amateur credentials and will join Northridge starting in the 2012-13 season.

The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (2-0) defeated Loyola Marymount 79-62 Monday night in a non-conference contest at Gersten Pavilion. Jasmine Erving produced her 14th career double-double to lead four Matadors in double figures as CSUN posted it first 2-0 start since the 1998-99 season.

The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (1-0) defeated San Francisco 67-59 Friday afternoon at War Memorial Coliseum in both team's season opener. After a sluggish first half in which they trailed by as many as 11, the Matadors erased a seven point halftime deficit and won their first season opener since the 2004-05 season.

The Cal State Northridge women's basketball program defeated The Master's College, 87-53, in an exhibition contest Saturday afternoon at The Matadome. Senior Jasmine Erving led the Matadors with 27 points while junior Violet Alama had a double-double and the Matadors forced 36 Mustang turnovers.

Pair of Matadors Earn Preseason Accolades
Senior Jasmine Erving and freshman Janae Sharpe received preseason All-Big West honors from the website College Sports Madness. Erving, who has earned All-Big West Second Team honors the past two seasons, was named to the Preseason First Team while Sharpe, a 5-7 combo guard from Rialto, Calif., was named the league's Preseason Freshman of the Year.
