March 7, 2013 Matadors Lead Wire-to-Wire in 72-44 Win over Titans The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (14-15, 8-9 Big West) defeated Cal State Fullerton 72-44 Thursday evening in a Big West Conference contest at The Matadome. Janae Sharpe scored 16 points and Randi Friess just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds as the Matadors never trailed in winning their fifth-straight over the Titans.
March 6, 2013 Matadors Close Regular Season at Home versus Titans, Highlanders The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (13-15, 7-9 Big West Conference) closes out its 2012-13 season with a pair of home Big West Conference match-ups that will surely have an effect on the final league standings. On Thursday, Mar. 7, Northridge hosts Cal State Fullerton at 5 p.m. as part of a CSUN basketball doubleheader with the men’s team. February 18, 2013 Marta Masoni Leaves Matadors For Personal Reasons Cal State Northridge freshman Marta Masoni has left the team due to personal reasons and is not expected to return, CSUN head coach Jason Flowers announced. A 6-2 perimeter player from Taranto, Italy, Masoni averaged 12.4 points in 23 starts for the Matadors.
February 16, 2013 Guay's Buzzer Beater Lifts CSUN to 51-49 Victory over UC Davis The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (13-12, 7-6 Big West) defeated UC Davis 51-49 Saturday afternoon in a Big West Conference contest at The Matadome. Sophomore Ashlee Guay made the game-winning lay-up as time expired as the Matadors completed a furious second-half comeback.
February 15, 2013 Tigers Shoot Their Way Past CSUN, 74-56 The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (12-12, 6-6 Big West) lost 74-56 Thursday nigh to Pacific in a Big West Conference contest at The Matadome. Violet Alama finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Matadors, but the Tigers shot a blistering 65.2 percent (15-of-23) from 3-point range and 60.9 percent (14-of-23) in the second half to pull away with the victory.
February 13, 2013 Matadors Return Home to Face Pacific, UC Davis at The Matadome The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (12-11, 6-5 Big West) returns to The Matadome this week for a pair of important Big West Conference contests. On Thursday, Feb. 14, the Matadors host the league-leading Pacific Tigers in a 7 p.m. game. Two days later, CSUN meets UC Davis in a 2 p.m. affair in which the Matadors will wear pink uniforms as the team participates in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association “Play for Kay” Initiative to promote breast cancer awareness. Ashlee Guay scored a game-high 24 points and Camille Mahlknecht grabbed a career-high 16 rebonds but the 49ers closed the contest on a 24-9 run to seal the victory.

Marta Masoni scored a team-high 18 points, Violet Alama had 12 rebounds and Ashlee Guay finished with 10 assists as the Matadors roared back in the second half.

Haley White scored a career-high 21 points off the bench and Camille Mahlknecht and Ashlee Guay connected on baskets in the waning seconds of regulation and overtime to extend the game and help CSUN snap a three-game losing streak.

December 20, 2012 Matadors Stun No. 12 UCLA 77-72 at Pauley Pavilion Sophomore guard Ashlee Guay scored a career-high 28 points, Marta Masoni added 18 points on six three-pointers and the Cal State Northridge Matadors (6-4) upset the No. 12 UCLA Bruins (7-2) 77-72 on Thursday night at Pauley Pavilion. With the victory, the Matadors defeated the Bruins for the first time in school history.

September 18, 2012 Former Matador Jasmine Erving Embarks on Pro Career in Greece Former Cal State Northridge women’s basketball standout Jasmine Erving has started her professional career with IKAPOS of the Greek Women’s Basketball League. CSUN’s second-highest scorer in school history has adjusted quickly to her professional regiment as the squad recently competed in a friendly, preseason tournament.
September 6, 2012 Team USA Women's Sitting Volleyball Headed to Gold Medal Match at 2012 Paralympics Former Cal State Northridge women's basketball player Katie Holloway and the Team USA Women's Sitting Volleyball squad will face China in a the Gold Medal match of the 2012 Paralympics in London. The gold medal match will air at 1 p.m. PT on Friday, Sept. 7 and streamed live on USParalympics.org.
August 17, 2012 Matador Women's Hoops Holding Try-Outs on Oct. 11 The Cal State Northridge women's basketball program will hold try-outs for the 2012-13 team on Thursday, October 11 from 5-7 p.m. in The Matadome. The team is also looking for men's practice players for the upcoming 2012-13 season. All interested parties in both open tryouts and in being a male practice player should contact assistant coach Mario Trutanic.
August 16, 2012 CSUN Adds Marta Masoni for 2012-13 Season The Cal State Northridge women's basketball program has added Marta Masoni (Taranto, Italy) to the 2012-13 roster, Matador head coach Jason Flowers announced. A 6-1 perimeter player from Taranto, Italy, Masoni brings a lifetime of experience to the hardwood and gives the Matadors another solid two-way player.
August 14, 2012 Northridge Women's Hoops Releases 2012-13 Schedule The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball program has released its 2012-13 schedule, head coach Jason Flowers announced. Coming off one of the most successful seasons in school history, the Matadors will look to continue the trend with a challenging slate of contests.
August 13, 2012 Bernadette Fong Joins Matadors for 2012-13 Season The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team has added Bernadette Fong to the 2012-13 roster, head coach Jason Flowers announced. A 6-3 center from Liberty High School in Northern California, Fong brings an interior presence to the Matadors’ incoming class.
July 17, 2012 Former Matador Katie Holloway Headed to London Games Former Cal State Northridge women's basketball player Katie Holloway will participate in her second Paralympics this summer in London as part of Team USA Sitting Volleyball. Born without a bone in her right foot, Holloway has constantly silenced her critics and made adaptive sports and recreation one of her life's pursuits.
May 22, 2012 Matador Women's Hoops Adds Cinnamon Lister to Roster The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball program and head coach Jason Flowers announced that Cinnamon Lister has transferred to the Matadors and will begin play in the for the 2013-14 season. A two-year letterwinner at Boise State, Lister will have to sit out the 2012-13 season in accordance with NCAA transfer rules and have two years of eligibility at Northridge.
April 26, 2012 Matador Women’s Basketball Enjoys Banner Year in 2011-12 Season Flowers guided the Matadors to an impressive and historic campaign in the 2011-12 season. The Matadors finished 17-14 overall, compiling the best turnaround in the nation, and posted an 11-5, second-place finish in the Big West Conference. The success culminated in an invitation to the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT), just the second time in the school’s Division-I history that the Matadors participated in the postseason.
April 10, 2012 Matador Women's Hoops to Host 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament The Cal State Northridge women's basketball program will host the Watch the Throne 3-on-3 Tournament on Saturday, April 28 on the CSUN campus.
April 9, 2012 CSUN Women's Hoops to Hold Postseason Banquet on April 29 The Cal State Northridge women's basketball program will host its annual postseason banquet at the Orange Grove Bistro on the CSUN campus from 3-6 p.m. on April 29. The Matadors, who finished the 2011-12 season 17-14 and 11-5 in the Big West Conference, will reflect on what was truly a historic season.
March 30, 2012 Matador Women's Hoops Announces Three Summer Camps The Cal State Northridge women's basketball program will host three camps during the summer of the 2012 for future Matadors of all levels. From June 22-24, the Matadors will host a team camp, followed by a Future Matador camp (June 25-29) and the camps will conclude with a College Overnight Prep Camp on June 29-30.
March 16, 2012 USD Outlasts CSUN 60-58 in WNIT Opening Round The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (17-14) lost 60-58 to San Diego Friday night in the opening round of the Women’s National Invitational Tournament. Trailing by 13 in the second half, the Matadors made a spirited comeback and had a chance to win it at the buzzer, but a 3-point attempt was a little too strong and rattled off the back of the iron as time expired.
March 13, 2012 Matadors Receive At-Large Berth to WNIT, Face San Diego Friday The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team received an at-large berth to the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) and will play at the University of San Diego on Friday, March 16. At 17-13 overall, including an 11-5 second-place finish in the Big West Conference, the Matadors will participate in the postseason for just the second time in the program's Division I history.
March 6, 2012 CSUN Falls 57-52 to Long Beach State in Big West Quarterfinals The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (17-13) lost 57-52 to Long Beach State Tuesday night in a Big West Tournament Quarterfinal at The Matadome. Jasmine Erving had 13 points and 11 rebounds, her 13th double-double of the season, but the Matadors could not hang on to the lead against several big runs from the 49ers.

March 5, 2012 CSUN Women's Hoops Collects Multiple All-Big West Honors The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team collected multiple 2011-12 All-Big West awards as voted upon by the league’s coaches, the conference office announced Monday. CSUN collected three individual awards as Janae Sharpe was named Freshman of the Year. Violet Alama was named Co-Sixth Woman of the Year and Jason Flowers was named Coach of the Year. Senior Jasmine Erving earned All-Big West First Team honors, Sharpe was named to the Second Team and Ashlee Guay and Alama received Honorable mention accolades.
March 3, 2012 Matadors Down Titans 60-51 on Senior Day The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (17-12, 11-5 Big West) defeated Cal State Fullerton 60-51 Saturday afternoon in both team’s Big West Conference regular season finale. Janae Sharpe scored a game-high 19 points and Jasmine Erving added 12 points and nine rebounds as the Matadors ended up second in the league standings.
February 29, 2012 Northridge Hosts Cal State Fullerton Amid Senior Day Festivities The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (16-12, 10-5 Big West) closes out the 2011-12 regular season with a home contest against Cal State Fullerton at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 3. February 23, 2012 CSUN Stumbles in 61-44 Loss at UCSB The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (16-11, 10-4 Big West) lost 61-44 to UC Santa Barbara Thursday night at The Thunderdome. Jasmine Erving led the Matadors with 13 points and six rebounds, but a sluggish start combined with torrid shooting from the Gauchos proved too much.

February 16, 2012 Matadors Push Past Pacific 63-56 The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (15-10, 9-3 Big West) defeated Pacific 63-56 Thursday evening in a Big West Conference showdown at The Matadome. Jasmine Erving had her 12th double-double of the season, finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Janae Sharpe scored 17 of her game-high 19 in the second half for the Matadors.
February 14, 2012 CSUN Hosts Pacific, UC Davis in Pivotal Big West Contests The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (14-10, 8-3 Big West) returns to action this week with a pair of important Big West Conference match-ups. February 6, 2012 Historic Week Earns Jasmine Erving Big West Player of the Week Honors After posting a pair of double-doubles in two conference road wins last week, CSUN senior Jasmine Erving has been named the Big West Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. In wins at UC Riverside and UC Irvine, Erving averaged 29 points and 10 rebounds, including a career-high 36 points in Northridge's victory over the Anteaters.

Senior Jasmine Erving led the Matadors with a career-high 36 points as Northridge won its fourth-straight game.
February 2, 2012 Second-Half Surge Sends CSUN to 64-58 Victory at UC Riverside The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (13-9, 7-2 Big West) defeated UC Riverside 64-58 Thursday afternoon in a Big West Conference at the Student Rec Center Arena. The Matadors overcame a slow first half to out-score the Highlanders 42-23 in the second half as they picked up their first road win in this series in over six years.
January 31, 2012 CSUN Travels for Big West Contests at UC Riverside, UC Irvine The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (12-9, 6-2 Big West) hits the road to start the second half of Big West Conference play. January 2, 2012 Janae Sharpe Named Big West Conference Player of the Week After helping lead the Matadors to a 2-0 start to league play, freshman Janae Sharpe was named Big West Conference Player of the Week the league office announced Monday. In home victories over UC Irvine and UC Riverside, Sharpe averaged 17.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.0 steals as CSUN improved to 7-7 for the season.
December 31, 2011 Matadors Get Back to .500 with 63-55 Victory over Highlanders The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (7-7, 2-0 Big West) defeated UC Riverside 63-55 Saturday afternoon in a Big West Conference contest at The Matadome. Jessica Duarte led three Matadors in double-figures with a season-high 19 points and also added a season-high eight rebounds in the victory.
December 29, 2011 CSUN Snaps Skid with 55-49 Win over UC Irvine The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (6-7, 1-0 Big West) defeated UC Irvine 55-49 in both teams' Big West Conference opener Thursday afternoon at The Matadome. Freshman Janae Sharpe scored a season-high 19 points, including 12 in the second half, to help lead the Matadors to the victory over the Anteaters.

Down by 12 at halftime, the Matadors mounted a spirited rally and cut the lead to three in the final minute before the Ducks hit some free throws to seal the win.
December 16, 2011 CSUN Heads to Pacific Northwest for Contests at Oregon, Portland The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (5-5) hits the road for its final two non-conference road games of the 2011-12 season. The Matadors will face the Oregon Ducks of the Pac 12 Conference on Dec. 19, and then face the Portland Pilots of the West Coast Conference on Dec. 21. From Hakeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson to David Robinson and Tim Duncan, these tandems have often overpowered the opposition with their height and weight, gaining numerous accolades along the way. However, two guards on the Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team are showing that big things come in small packages too.
December 11, 2011 Fresno State Clips Northridge 70-61 The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (5-5) lost 70-61 to Fresno State Sunday afternoon at The Matadome. Three Matadors finished with 12 points, but Northridge could not hold on to an eight-point halftime lead and dropped a close decision to the visiting Bulldogs.
December 7, 2011 Balanced Offense Carries CSUN to 85-55 Victory over San Jose State The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (5-4) defeated San Jose State 85-55 Wednesday evening in a non-conference game at The Matadome. Jasmine Erving, Kaitlyn Petersen and Violet Alama all scored 14 points as Northridge rolled to its largest victory in over 11 years.
December 6, 2011 CSUN Hosts San Jose State, Fresno State in Non-Conference Contests The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (4-4) returns home for a pair of non-conference games at The Matadome. On Wednesday, Dec. 7, the Matadors will face the San Jose State Spartans at 7 p.m. Then on Sunday, Dec. 11, the Matadors will face Fresno State in a matinee at 2 p.m. Both games will have live stats and live Internet-only radio for both contests. December 3, 2011 Matadors Fall at Pepperdine 68-64 Turnovers and fouls spelled the difference in a tightly contested game as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (4-4) dropped a 68-64 decision to the Pepperdine Waves (5-3) on Saturday afternoon at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu. Senior Jasmine Erving led all scorers with 27 points (13-for-24) to pass Patricia De La Riva and move into fourth place all-time at Northridge for career field goals made (487).
December 1, 2011 CSUN Drops Home Decision to Santa Clara 90-72 The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (4-3) lost 90-72 to Santa Clara Thursday evening in a non-conference game at The Matadome. Freshmen Ashlee Guay and Janae Sharpe each had 13 points for the Matadors, who could not overcome a slow start in suffering their first home loss of the season.

November 26, 2011 Northridge Outlasts West Virginia to Claim Thanksgiving Classic Championship Sophomore Kaitlyn Petersen led the Matadors in scoring with 17 points, including a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line, as Cal State Northridge (4-2) defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers (3-2) 48-47 in the championship game of the Holiday Inn Woodland Hills Thanksgiving Basketball Classic 2011. The victory for the Matadors is the first over a Big East program in school history.
November 25, 2011 Northridge Advances to Championship with 71-60 Win over Colgate The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (3-2) defeated Colgate 71-60 Friday evening at the Woodland Hills Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Basketball Classic. Senior Jasmine Erving led four Matadors in double-figures with 18 points as Northridge advanced to the tournament's championship game against West Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 26.
November 23, 2011 CSUN Opens Home Schedule with Woodland Hills Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Basketball Classic 2011 The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (2-2) plays its first two home games of the 2011-12 season this weekend as the Matadors host the Woodland Hills Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Basketball Classic 2011 Nov. 25 and Nov. 26 at The Matadome. Northridge welcomes in UCLA, Colgate and West Virginia to the San Fernando Valley for a four-team, two-day tournament.
November 19, 2011 Washington Edges Northridge 73-67 The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (2-2) lost 73-67 to Washington Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest at Alaska Airlines Arena. Senior Jasmine Erving led CSUN with 21 points and 10 rebounds, but the Matadors could not hold on to their halftime lead.
November 17, 2011 Matadors Fall 83-63 at Oregon State The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (2-1) lost 83-63 to Oregon State Thursday night at Gil Coliseum in a non-conference contest. Camille Mahlknecht led the Matadors with 14 points, but the Matadors could not stop the Beavers early in the second half as they lost their first game of the season.
November 16, 2011 Matadors Remain on the Road for Contests at Oregon State, Washington The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (2-0) heads to the Pacific Northwest this weekend to face two foes out of the Pac 12 Conference. On Thursday, Nov. 17, the Matadors meet Oregon State in Gill Coliseum for a 7 p.m. contest. Two days later, CSUN will head to Seattle to face Washington at the Alaska Airlines Arena. Both games will feature live stats and live audio on GoMatadors.com. For the Nov. 17 contest with Oregon State, a free video feed will also be available. November 15, 2011 CSUN Women's Hoops Signs Three to National Letters of Intent The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball program has signed three high school seniors to National Letters of Intent, Matador head coach Jason Flowers announced. Breeyon Alexander, Jasmine Johnson and Johnece Miller all bring in outstanding amateur credentials and will join Northridge starting in the 2012-13 season.
November 15, 2011 Matadors Post 79-62 Victory at LMU The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (2-0) defeated Loyola Marymount 79-62 Monday night in a non-conference contest at Gersten Pavilion. Jasmine Erving produced her 14th career double-double to lead four Matadors in double figures as CSUN posted it first 2-0 start since the 1998-99 season.
November 11, 2011 Matadors Down Dons 67-59 in Season Opener The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (1-0) defeated San Francisco 67-59 Friday afternoon at War Memorial Coliseum in both team's season opener. After a sluggish first half in which they trailed by as many as 11, the Matadors erased a seven point halftime deficit and won their first season opener since the 2004-05 season.
November 9, 2011 Matadors Start 2011-12 Season with Pair of Dates on The Road The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team opens the 2011-12 season with a pair of road contests against a pair of foes from the West Coast Conference. On Nov. 11, the Matadors start their second season under head coach Jason Flowers with a 3 p.m. contest against San Francisco. They don’t even play the same position on the court, as Julius was a slashing perimeter player and Jasmine is a dominating presence in the post.
October 29, 2011 Northridge Downs The Master's College 87-53 in Exhibition The Cal State Northridge women's basketball program defeated The Master's College, 87-53, in an exhibition contest Saturday afternoon at The Matadome. Senior Jasmine Erving led the Matadors with 27 points while junior Violet Alama had a double-double and the Matadors forced 36 Mustang turnovers.
October 25, 2011 2011-12 CSUN Women's Basketball Preview Change is afoot at Cal State Northridge for the women’s basketball program. There is a new team room augmented by a hardwood floor reminiscent of the Boston Garden’s famed parquet. October 19, 2011 CSUN Tabbed Seventh, Erving Named to Preseason All-Big West Team The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team was picked to finish seventh with 73 points in the 2011-12 Big West Preseason Media Poll, the league office announced. Matador senior Jasmine Erving was also recognized, earning a spot on the 2011-12 Preseason All-Big West Team.

October 10, 2011 Pair of Matadors Earn Preseason Accolades Senior Jasmine Erving and freshman Janae Sharpe received preseason All-Big West honors from the website College Sports Madness. Erving, who has earned All-Big West Second Team honors the past two seasons, was named to the Preseason First Team while Sharpe, a 5-7 combo guard from Rialto, Calif., was named the league's Preseason Freshman of the Year.
October 6, 2011 Matador Women's Hoops to Host Free Youth Clinic on Oct. 29 The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball program will host a free youth clinic on October 29 from 9 a.m. to noon, Matador head coach Jason Flowers announced. The clinic, which is open to both girls and boys ages 6 to 13, will be held before the Matadors’ exhibition contest against The Master’s College at 7 p.m.
