NORTHRIDGE, Calif. ---
The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team, 2013-14 Big West Champions of the regular season and tournament, will host its annual postseason banquet on Sunday, May 18 at 3 p.m. at the Radisson Chatsworth Hotel. The cost to attend the event is $40 per person.
The 2013-14 Season was a memorable campaign for the Matadors. The Matadors finished the year 18-15 overall and 12-4 in Big West play to capture the league's regular season title for the first time in program history.
In the Big West Tournament, the top-seeded Matadors defeated UC Irvine and Cal Poly to win the Championship and capture the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. Although CSUN lost to South Carolina in the first round, the Matadors pushed the Gamecocks to the brink throughout the contest and trailed by only three with three minutes to play.
Indvidually, Ashlee Guay became the first player in school history to earn her league's player of the year, taking home the Big West honors. During the season, she set new program all-time marks for steals and assists and surpassed 1,200 points for her career.
Fellow juniors Camille Mahlknecht, Cinnamon Lister and Janae Sharpe also earned All-Big West honors. Mahlknecht set the program career blocks record while Lister broke the school record for 3-pointers in a game.
