NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- The Cal State Northridge women's basketball program will host three camps during the summer of the 2012 for future Matadors of all levels. From June 22-24, the Matadors will host a team camp, followed by a Future Matador camp (June 25-29) and the camps will conclude with a College Overnight Prep Camp on June 29-30.
The Team Camp is open to all girls' high school varsity and club teams; each team will be guaranteed six games. Games will be officiated by collegiate & high school certified referees. Our team camp will also include skill development sessions, special situation scrimmages, and coach's chalk talks/socials. Skill development sessions will focus on shooting, footwork, ball-handling, and defense. Special situation scrimmages will be open to interested teams that would like to work on time/score situations.
The cost for the Team Camp is $450 per team and the camp will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on all three days.
The Future Matador Camp is targeted for boys and girls ages 6-13. The camp will run from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. from June 25-29. The camp is designed to develop a player's fundamental skills, increase their basketball IQ and create a fun and enjoyable atmosphere through competitive games and drills.
The daily schedule for the Future Matador Camp will include individual skill instruction, competitive contests and team games. Each camper will receive a t-shirt and a detailed scouting report. Campers will be divided by age and skill level to ensure a fun and meaningful experience for all participants.
Finally, the College Prep Camps is designed for the girl's basketball player interested in competing at the college level. It is a very intense instructional camp designed to challenge players to raise their game to the next level. Many of the philosophies, drills, and techniques used by Coach Flowers and his staff at CSUN will be taught. The camp is open to any interested girls basketball players entering grades 8-12 in the fall of 2012.
The mission of the college camp is to work on bevy of skills for participants, including footwork, shooting and ballhandling. The camp runs from 3 p.m. on June 29 to 6 p.m. on June 30 and is $95 per camper. Participants will spend the night in the dormitories on the CSUN campus.
