Matador Men's Cross Country Earns Big West Team Sportsmanship Award

Cal State Northridge men's cross country was named the Big West Conference Team Sportsmanship Award winner for the 2010 fall season.

The Matador cross country squad, which finished eighth at the 2010 Big West Cross Country Championships in October, followed up Men's and Women's Golf, Men's and Women's Swimming and Women's Tennis which earned conference team sportsmanship awards in June.

"This is a great honor for a bunch of kids who worked hard all year to be the best that they could be," said head coach Don Strametz. "This really is a very special group."

The Sportsmanship Award is voted upon by the respective student-athletes in each of the Big West's 16 championship sports. UC Riverside claimed the award in the sports of women's volleyball and men's soccer. UC Davis received the honor in women's soccer and women's cross country, while the Matador men's cross country squad rounded out the list of honorees for the conference's five fall sports.
