Matadors Set to Host Northridge Invitational Cross Country Meet

The Cal State Northridge men's and women's cross country teams host the Northridge Invitational Friday (Oct. 16) at Balboa Park.

The meet, which will take place at the Wildlife/Cricket/Japanese Garden area of Balboa Park Sepulveda Basin is located east of Woodley Ave., between Burbank and Victory Blvd., just west of the 405 fwy. The course starts on the east side of the cricket field located north of the entrance road. The Northridge Invitational is the first cross country meet hosted by Cal State Northridge in 22 years.

Two women's 6,000-meter race is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. and the men's 8,000-meter race will start at approximately 5:20 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to park in Lots 1 or 3, teams will park in Lot 2.

238 runners are scheduled to compete on Friday with teams from CSU Bakersfield, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Los Angeles, Occidental, San Diego State, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, USC and Westmont College scheduled to compete.

The host Matadors will field a squad of 17 runners (10 women, seven men).
