Former Cal State Northridge All-American Kevin McKniff signed a professional contract and is playing for VBK Worthersee Lowen in Klagenfurt, Austria.

McKniff is one of five American players on the team, Cole Reinholm (UC Irvine), Jake Rosener (UCSB), Matt Thobbe (UCSB) and Matt Addler (Loyola) are the others. The remainder of the squad consists of players from Austria and Bulgaria.

"It's a surreal experience, I love it," said McKniff. "It's really nice playing over here because Europeans really take volleyball seriously and are really passionate about the sport."

VBK Worthersee Lowen is a Division I team based in Klagenfurt, Austria. There are 11 teams in the league and VBK Worthersee Lowen also non-league matches against teams from Italy, Germany and Slovenia.

The professional volleyball season in Austria runs from October through as long as May, depending on how far a team lasts in the playoffs.
