May 28, 2008

WOODLAND, Calif. - Seniors Travis Bluemling and Isaac Kneubuhl, junior Eric Vance, sophomore Kevin McKniff and redshirt freshman Jeff Baxter were named to the 2008 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Volleyball Academic All-Conference Team as announced by the conference office on May 27.

With five honorees this season, Cal State Northridge men's volleyball has now had a conference-best 26 student-athletes awarded MPSF All-Academic honors over the past four seasons.

To qualify, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, must be at least a sophomore academically, must have completed one full academic year at their current institution and have competed in fifty percent or more of their institution's contests this season.

Bluemling and Kneubuhl both completed stellar careers both on the court and in the classroom. In addition to reaching the Northridge career top 10 in several categories, the pair both completed four year runs as part of the MPSF All-Academic team. Both Bluemling and Kneubuhl were awarded All-Academic honors each season since each was a redshirt freshman in 2005.

Vance is closing in on similar status as the junior has been named to the Academic All-Conference team each season since 2006. McKniff has earned the academic honors in both his eligible seasons (2007, 2008) while Baxter is a first-time honoree this season.
