NORTHRIDGE - 2008 Eric Vance started all 29 matches in which he appeared and played in 102 of Northridge's 109 sets during his junior season ... enjoyed his finest season that saw him named AVCA First Team All-American, Asics/Volleyball First Team All-American and First Team All-MPSF ... became the first Northridge player named to the AVCA All-America First Team since Doug English in 2003 and the first Matador named to the Asics/Volleyball All-America First Team since Nils Nielsen in 2005 ... was also named to the MPSF All-Tournament Team ... led Northridge in kills (459), kills per set (4.50), total attacks (1035), service aces (52) and points (544.5) and was third in digs (181) and tied for third in blocks (58) ... his 52 aces ranks third in a single season in Matador history ... ranked fifth in the nation in aces, eighth in points and ninth in kills and was third in the MPSF in aces, fifth in points and sixth kills ... heads into his senior season ranked second all-time in Northridge history in aces (124) and is just out of the career top-10 in kills, total attempts, digs and digs per set ... pounded a career-high 40 kills in 86 swings to go with four aces, nine digs and three blocks to lead the Matadors past No. 13 Hawai'i (Mar. 25) ... was named Sports Imports/AVCA and MPSF player of the Week on Feb. 25 after leading Northridge to wins over No. 7 UC Irvine and No. 6 UCLA ... also garnered MPSF Player of the Week honors after helping the Matdaors to their first-ever No. 1 national ranking after putting down 27 kills in a five-set win over No. 5 Pepperdine (Mar. 12) ... had at least 10 kills in 26 of the 29 matches in which he played ... posted a team-best five double-doubles during the season which gives him seven in his career ... was one of five Northridge players named to the 2008 MPSF Academic All-Conference Team. 2007 Vance appeared in all 33 matches and 113 of 119 sets as a sophomore ... had a solid season that saw him garner Honorable Mention All-MPSF honors for the first time ... finished second to Dan Rhodes in kills (344) and kills per set (3.04) ... finished the season with a team-high 46 service aces which is the sixth-best total in a single season in Northridge history ... finished the season just 10 aces away from entering the Matador career top-10 ... ranked third in the MPSF and 13th in the nation in aces ... finished second on the Matadors in digs with a career-high 177 and also posted a career-best 39 blocks ... reached double figures in kills in 19 of 33 matches, including 15 of the final 20 matches of the season ... knocked down a career-high 25 kills and added 13 digs for his first career double-double against No. 4 Pepperdine (Jan. 31) ... also recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs in the Matadors' MPSF Tournament win over No. 8 USC (Apr. 18) ... dug a career-high and Northridge season-high 16 balls in the Matadors' 3-1 at Stanford (Jan. 12) ... had at least once service ace in 22 of 33 matches including a career-high six in a 3-1 win over Stanford (Mar. 30) ... was one of six Northridge players names to the 2007 MPSF Academic All-Conference Team. 2006 Appeared in 27 matches and 94 games as a redshirt freshman ... finished third on the team in kills (240) and was fourth in kills per game (2.55) ... took 533 swings which ranked third on the Matadors ... hit .244 for the season and tied for the team-high with 26 aces ... also recorded 111 digs (1.18 dpg) which ranked sixth on the squad ... pounded a season-high 24 kills in Northridge's 3-2 comeback win at No. 7 UCLA (Feb. 10) ... had 23 kills against No. 5 Long Beach State (Mar. 3) and 19 kills against UC San Diego to earn MPSF Player of the Week on Mar. 6 ... recorded double figures in kills 11 times during the season ... narrowly missed a double-double with nine kills and a career-high 12 digs against No. 4 Hawai'i (Feb. 24) ... was one of eight Northridge players named MPSF Academic All-Conference. 2005 Redshirted the 2005 season for the Matadors as a true freshman.
