Ralls, a junior from Deer Island, Ore., received an at-large berth in the women's javelin. She finished 11th (143-5) at the NCAA West Regional last weekend in Oregon, but advances to the NCAA Championships based on her season-best of 159-3 (48.54). Ralls, who finished 10th at the 2008 NCAA Championships with a lifetime-best 165-5 (50.43), ranks 25th among 27 women's javelin throwers in the championship field.
The Matadors will also send their women's 4x100 relay team of Dominique Calvin, Tara Prier, Shelese Ruffin, Precious Watkins and Sherrina Lofton. Lofton will also be competing in the 100 meters as well as the heptathlon. Northridge nearly earned an automatic berth at the West Regional but finished one spot out of the top-three. The Matadors ran a season-best 44.73 in the regional and rank 17th among the relay teams competing at the NCAA Championships.
Cole and Waters, along with Lofton, earned automatic berths during the regionals as Cole took second in the men's long jump, Waters finished third in the 100 meters and fourth in the 200 meters while Lofton placed fifth in the women's 100 meters.
