NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge track and field opened the 2010 outdoor season by winning 12 events at its annual Northridge Invitational at the Matador Track Complex on Saturday.
The Matadors took home eight event titles on the women's side and four on the men's side as the two-day meet wrapped up early Saturday evening.
Claire Morgan opened with a win in section B of the women's hammer on Friday as she threw 45.05 to win the event. On Saturday, the Matadors performed well in the field events as Tiana Webberley (3.70) won her section of the pole vault as did Cristi Allen (3.10).
Desirae Gonder, after redshirting the 2009 outdoor season, won her first competition of 2010 as she jumped 1.75 to claim the women's high jump. Stella Dugall claimed the women's triple jump after posting a mark of 12.15.
Senior Bradley Ike had a solid opening meet of the 2010 outdoor season as he won both the 100 and 200 meters on Saturday. Ike ran 10.47 in the 100 and 21.51 in the 200.
NCAA Indoor Championships As the NCAA Indoor Championships concluded Saturday at the University of Arkansas, junior Reindell Cole placed ninth in the long jump (7.65) while senior Robert Robinson was injured during the first day of the heptathlon and was not able to complete the events.
