Cole, a junior from Las Vegas, Nev., is the Northridge indoor record holder in the long jump with a distance of 26-7.75 (8.12). Cole set his personal-best mark when he claimed the 2008 NCAA Indoor Long Jump championship at the University of Arkansas, the same venue as this weekend's meet. Cole comes in to the meet ranked ninth among 15 competitors with a season-best jump of 25-9.50 (7.86) set at the MPSF Indoor Championships on Feb. 27 in Seattle, Wash. He finished second to Arizona's Luis Rivera-Morales at the MPSF Championships.
Robinson is making his NCAA Indoor Championship debut in the heptathlon after claiming the 16th and final spot in the competition. Robinson scored an indoor career-best 5,540 points at the MPSF Indoor Championships where he finished second to California's Michael Morrison (5,655).
The heptathlon gets underway Friday, Mar. 12 at 10 a.m. local time with the 60 meters, the first of four events on Friday. The men will also compete in the long jump, shot put and high jump and Friday followed by the 60 meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000 meter run on Saturday.
The men's long jump is scheduled to begin at 5:25 p.m. local time with the preliminaries and final round.
