Gustavo Villalobos competed in five matches for the Matadors in 2011 before an injury cut his season short. In the abbreviated campaign, Villalobos scored a goal and had two assists for four points. He also took five shots, two of which were on goal.
Villalobos competed in all but one match in his first season of play at Cal State Northridge and was tied for second on the team in goals (2) and points (6). He finished second on the team in assists (2), shots (47) and shots on goal (16) and netted both of his goals and picked up an assist for a five point effort in the Matadors' 3-0 victory at Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 2. Villalobos finished tied for fifth in the conference in shots and sixth in shots per game (2.61).
Villalobos sat out the 2009 season as a redshirt.
BIRMINGHAM HIGH SCHOOL
A two-sport athlete for the Patriots, Villalobos played at midfield and forward for the soccer team and played doubles for the tennis team. As captain of the soccer team, he led Birmingham to a 2009 West Valley League Championship and was named to the All-City First Team and received a West Valley League Most Valuable Player award in 2009. He broke a school record with 32 goals during his senior year and was also a 2008 All-League First Team and All-City Third Team honoree. Villalobos won the 2007 State Championship with Rampage FC and received All-League First Team and All-City Second Team honors during his sophomore year.
