Michael Abalos recorded seven shutouts in his junior season, which tie for the third-most in one campaign in school history. He finished the year with a record of 6-8-3, 69 saves, a 1.18 goals against average and a save percentage of .758. His seven shutouts ranked second in the Big West and he came in at third with 3.83 saves per game. He played in 18 of 19 matches and made 17 starts this year and was named an All-Big West Honorable Mention.


Abalos completed his sophomore season at CSUN as the primary goalkeeper, finishing with a record of 3-12-2. He competed in 18 of the Matadors' 19 games this season and finished the season with two shutouts, 74 saves (.718 save percentage) and a goals against average of 1.69. Abalos ranked sixth in the conference in goals against average, third in saves, seventh in shutouts and save percentage, and fourth in saves per game.


Abalos finished his first season at CSUN earning All-Big West Honorable Mention honors due to his 7-7-2 record, 1.17 GAA, 60 saves, and five shuouts. He competed in 16 of the Matadors' 20 games this season. After only one season Abalos is now tied for ninth place with Mike Littman with five career shutouts and has tied Joe Barton (2001) and Mike Littman (1989) for seventh place with his five shutouts earned in a single season.


Abalos earned two letters as the goalkeeper for the Eagles during their 2006 and 2007 CIF Championship seasons. During the '07 season, Abalos was named the starting 'keeper and was named team captain as voted on by his teammates.
