NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge men's golf coach Jim Bracken has announced that he has signed Ryan Green and Jake Katz to National Letters of Intent to play for the Matador men's golf program.
Green, from Henderson, Nev., competed all four years at Green Valley High School. He finished fifth in the 2010 Nevada 4A Sunrise Final after carding a two-round 150. He lettered all four years for the Gators' golf team and earned all-state honors as a junior and senior. He played all four seasons for coach Greg Murphy.
"We're excited to have Ryan join our program," said Bracken. "He's got a lot of tournament experience and is one of the top-ranked high school players in the state of Nevada. He was fifth in Nevada State championship so were really looking forward to adding a quality freshman like Ryan to complement our returning players."
Katz, from Thousand Oaks, Calif., lettered all four years at Westlake High School. He earned All-Marmonte League honors and was also named all-county as a junior and senior. He was named Ventura County Player of the Year and finished sixth in the state in both his junior and senior seasons. Katz added to his accolades by winning the 2010 SCGA High School Championship.
"Jake is the number one player out of Westlake High School and he's also got a ton of tournament experience," said Bracken. "He finished sixth in the state the last two years and was the Southern Section CIF Individual champion this year so he's had a lot of success locally."
"I look forward to having both Ryan and Jake comptete for us for the next four years," added Bracken. "I would certainly rate this class as one of the finest we've had in years."
