Casey Piper Finishes as Runner-Up, Matadors Seventh at Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif. - Junior Casey Piper carded a final round 70 and finished as individual medalist runner-up by one stoke while the Cal State Northridge men's golf team finished seventh as the Pacific Invitational.

As a team, the Matadors posted their high round of the tournament after carding a final round 292. Northridge posted a 287 in the first round and a second round 288. The Matadors, at 867, finished 14 shots behind team champion Kansas State (853).

Piper, who was sixth after one round and fifth after the second round, posted his third straight round of 70 to finish the tournament at 210 (-3). Piper finished one shot behind Marquette's Mike Van Sickle who posted a final round 69 to finish at 209 (-4).

Sophomore Nike Delio finished tied for 16th at 216 (+3) after carding a final round 73. Delio finished with rounds of 74-69-73. Senior Erik Jarvey finished tied for 34th at 221 (+8) after a final round 74, Clint Oleson finished tied for 39th at 222 (+9) after a final round 77 and Jeff Freund finished tied for 56th at 231 (+18) after a final round 75.

The Pacific Invitational wraps up the fall season for the Matadors.
