LONG BEACH, Calif. - Cal State Northridge carded an opening-round 372 and sits 15th as the second round of the Del Walker Intercollegiate was suspended due to darkness. Junior Nick Delio is tied for 35th after one round.
The completion of round two and a final round of 18 holes will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
Delio paced the Matadors after one round with a (+1) 71 which left him tied for 35th. Senior Casey Piper is tied for 45th at (+2) 72, Davis Kirkland is tied for 72nd at (+5) 75, Chris Russo is tied for 82nd at (+6) 76, Jeff Freund is tied for 90th at (+8) 78 and Matt Saporin is tied for 94th at (+9) 79.
Two-time defending Del Walker champion Colorado State and Saint Mary's share the lead of 16 teams as both the Rams and Gaels fired an eight-under 342 to hold a two-stroke lead over third place Oregon (344).
Scott Clayton of UC Riverside sizzled with a seven-under 63 as he sits on top of the leader board with a one-stroke lead over Daniel Cone of Saint Mary's with a 64.
