Final Round 288 Keeps Matadors in Sixth Place at Denver's Ron Moore Invitational

DENVER, Colo. - Sophomore Nick Delio led Cal State Northridge with a third place finish while a final round team score of 288 kept the Matadors in sixth place at the Ron Moore Invitational at Green Valley Ranch G.C.
Delio, who was also tied for third after two rounds, carded a final round, two under-par 70 to finish the tournament at nine under-par 207. He was three shots behind individual medalist Pat Grady of Colorado who finished at -12, 204. Delio finished Monday at -7, 137 after rounds of 68-69.
A final round 69 also vaulted Erik Jarvey into the top 10 as the senior finished at four under-par 212 which was good for a tie for ninth. Jarvey posted rounds of 71-72 on Monday.
Also for the Matadors, Jeff Freund finished tied for 55th after rounds of 73-79-74 left him at +10, 226, Casey Piper finished tied for 64th at +12, 228 after rounds of 79-74-75 and Greg Gauvin finished tied for 80th at +18, 234 after rounds of 75-82-77.
As a team, Northridge finished sixth at 869, well back of team champion Colorado which blistered the course for a three-round 825. Air Force was second at 859, followed by New Mexico State (864), Weber State (865) and Boise State (866) rounded out the top five.
"We shot five-over for the tournament and you can't complain when your right around par every round," said head coach Jim Bracken. "It's a good start to the year, we'll see what happens from here."
