Matadors Sixth After Two Rounds at All-American Intercollegiate

HOUSTON, Texas - Cal State Northridge, which was tied for the lead after an opening-round 294 round, slipped to a second round 303 and is currently in sixth place after two rounds of the All-American Intercollegiate at Cypresswood G.C.

Junior Jeff Freund is tied for 11th after two rounds to lead the Matadors. Freund carded rounds of even-par 72 and three over-par 75 to finish Monday at (+3) 147 on the par 72, 7220-yard layout. Freund trails leader Kent Bulle of Middle Tennessee (-8) 136 by 11 shots.

Sophomore Nick Delio is one shot behind Freund at (+4) 148 after rounds of 72-76. The Matadors had three golfers (Freund, Delio, Casey Piper) in the top six after the first round. Piper is currently tied for 41st after struggling to a second round 80 which followed an opening round 73. Piper sits at (+9) 153 while senior Clint Oleson rebounded from a tough opening round 83 to post a second round 72. Oleson is tied for 49th at (+11) 155 while senior Erik Jarvey is tied for 59th at (+13) 157 after posting rounds of 77-80.

Middle Tennessee is the team leader with a two-round score of 577. Louisiana-Lafayette is in second at 582, while Southeastern Louisiana sits third at 584. North Texas (594), Northridge (597), UALR (600), New Mexico State (600), Texas State (603) and Sam Houston State (605) round out the top-10 team leaders.

The tournament wraps up with the final 18 holes on the par-72, 7,220-yard course, beginning Tuesday morning.
