Former Matadors Nick Delio and Erik Jarvey Enter PGA Q-School Together

Former Cal State Northridge teammates Nick Delio and Erik Jarvey will be at the same site for the First Stage of the 2011 PGA Q-School. Delio and Jarvey will tee it up at Dayton Valley Golf Club in Dayton, Nev. Oct. 18-21 looking to advance to the Second Qualifying Stage.

Delio and Jarvey, who competed together during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons for the Matadors, will be among 75 players attempting to advance to the Second Stage. 

The qualiier gets underway Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Par 72, 7,218 yard Dayton Valley G.C. course. The tournament is Stroke play contested over 72 holes (four rounds) through Oct. 21. The players will play practice rounds on Oct. 16-17. The number of players advancing from each site will be on a pro rata basis (i.e., approximately the same percentage of players from each site will advance), and such number will be announced during the First Qualifying Stage.

Delio, the 2010-11 Big West Player of the Year, pre-qualified for Q-School after finishing tied for 25th at the Greg Norman PGA West course in La Quinta, Calif. (Sept. 14-16). Delio posted rounds of 73-69-74 to finish the qualifier at even-par 216.

Jarvey, who finished his Matador career in 2009, finished tied for 37th over four rounds in the 2009 pre-qualifier at the Golf Club of Dallas in Dallas, Texas. Jarvey post rounds of 72-73-70-72 to finish at seven over-par 287 and earn one of 43 qualifying positions advancing to the First Qualifying Stage. Jarvey then finished 39th at (+9) 297 over four rounds in the First Stage at Stonebrige Ranch C.C. in McKinney, Texas but failed to advance to the Second Stage.
